Think about it. If they are sending you full replacements in Carbon Fiber, why would they need you to send your stock peices to them? If they were full replacements, They could just send you those and be done.
The company you are thinking about is suiteEGraphix or elegant wood design. They require you to send them the original parts because its is an overlay they apply and send back to you.

they actually smooth out and paint the console to the background color of your choice and then they have this carbon fiber pattern film stuff that goes over it and then they clear the whole thing. Thats how come they can do different color CF.
They lay this CF pattern film on top of a body of water (usually a bucket or trough of some sort filled with water). They then carefully lower the painted piece into the water and the film takes the form of the object leaving the carbon fiber pattern on the painted piece.
So its not really a decal. You are paying for paintwork.

That makes alot more sense. Still can"t figure out the core charge though. Unless they have the consoles already done in a variety of colors and then they just use yours for someone else. Any explanations would be appreciated.Thinking about doing this console

The core charge is refundable. What happens is the charge your credit card for the price + core charge, then they send you the pieces, and when you send your stock ones back to them they refund the core charge. If you want to keep your OEM pieces then you pay the extra core charge, if you don't then the core charge means nothing.
