That represents a Philips head type adjuster for the headlight height adjustment. If you have a long #2 philips screwdriver, it will fit right into that opening and act as a driving gear for the teeth on that adjustment.

Those images came from Hypersprite's site. Here are his instructions for adjusting your headlight height....

I think your talking about the same thing, those teeth or triangle medal pieces are the adjustment for the lights. There is nothing visible that is before that. The adjustment isn't under the teeth, the teeth are the adjustment.

I just went out and looked at it on my car. I don't think it's an adjustment of any kind. It looks like it's a cover to an opening in the headlight housing. I don't really see a reference to it anywhere in the service manual in the section dealing with the headlights.

I still must be looking at the wrong thing. The plastic cap I see would be next to impossible to remove in it's normal mounted position. I'll try to look tomorrow when the sun's up but you're probably right, there must be some L/R adjustment for it.

if you use a flat hear screw driver, and push on that little tab towards the rear of the car it will pop off, exposing a gear

Just turn it and see what it does. If nothing happens, keep turning it until something does happen. Then let us know what it does.
