Default Modifying the OE hood for vents

I really like the styling of the hood above. With a Turbonetics kit on the way, I would like to have a vented hood. I don't want to buy another hood as the hood style/function I want is just like the nismo one above and from what I can tell, it's an OE hood with vents.

Has anyone modify the OE hood to cut in (or put in) vents?

It doesn't look like the OE hood. Look at the color variance from the hood to the car. If you are going to cut, I would suggest getting a CF hood and cutting it where you want and having it painted. You should have to cut into aluminum if it is not necessary

the cost for body shop to cut out vent on your OEM is not cheap. It might be more than buying new hood.

I was considering doing the same thing a while back, but decided to wait and see if I really needed to. Turns out I didn't. Track day in 80+ degree weather and the temps stayed fine. All I did was add 1/4" washers to the bolts holding down the hood, which raised the hood about 1/4" near the windshield.
Unless you really like the look, I think that a good radiator and additive like water wetter do more for cooling your car than a vented hood. Then again, with that Turbo under the hood, you may need all the cooling you can get.

for the cost of labor, it would be cheaper just to get a seibon vented hood...

MoodDude has cut in vents, just not ones like the Nismo. He said price was pretty reasonable.
