I'm getting ready to install some hood pins but I can't figure out a good place to attach the pins to. Do people drill through the bracing that is above the radiator?

Any suggest appreciated!

 

the radiator brace has two holes already, one directly above the intake hole, and one on the passengerside.

I had thought about putting them there the only problem is that the pins I'm using:
need more of a flat space under the hood. There is an area that I found would be better but I would need to figure out a way to attach the pins behind the radiator...

 

I've got a question that's off topic when you have sponsors do they pay for your mods?

 

ahh you got the aerocatch.
there is two versions. one that is slimmer, and the other is normal size.. i *think* you got the normal sized one.

however,
the curvature isnt that bad @ that location. its actually smaller radius that you think...

try rotating the aerocatch horizontally.

 

I just ordered the other version I'm going to see how much smaller it is. Can you suggest a type of a saw that I could use to cut the hood with? The one they use in their directions looks like it would be the best because it *looks* like it lets you cut a straight slice pretty easily...

That is not a slim version, that one is for mounting from underneath. In other words, the lip on one is on the outside, of the hood, the lip on the 125 flush is on the inside. In the directions, they suggest bonding it to the hood surface from underneath. I am thinking of mounting mine using the holes Cheston pictured, but of course, the underhood bracing or support structure is there, and in order to use the aerocatch, a chunk would have to be cut out in order to fasten the bolts to hold it in place. I am waiting for a full day to devote to this project, it turned out to be a big job IMO. I too am concerned about the radius there, but Cheston has a point about turning the areocatch on a angle to minimize the radius. I just hate to cut a hood in the wrong angle, there is no going back.

The only problem is that I don't know of any thing to use to attach to those screws... This is something I drew up but nothing like this exists:

I think the ones I have look like the 120 model?? but maybe I'm wrong..



Mine are completely flush like and don't have the concave... unless i misunderstood and the 125 is the slim version? Where can I buy the slim version?

 

You have any pics of how you mounted yours Koolzero?

 

can one of you guys post pics how you mounted these and which Monel you used. I'm really interested in getting these but if I mount them in the spot where the factory holes on the radiator support are will the areocatch clear the radiator support and will the angle of the pins work with the areocatch? The instructions say the pins have to be plus or minus five degrees of a right angle when entering the areocatch.
