Default HID Retrofit

Has anyone here done an HID retrofit with full projectors into the Z headlights? I just bought a set of used headlights and plan on putting some full projectors in, but want to see what others have done.

If you have done it, please post specifics including the projectors, ballasts and bulbs used and any pictures if you have them. Of course, a tutorial based write-up would be most beneficial, but who has time for that . Let me see what you have done.

I thought about it, but I really want to try and put some true projectors in like from an S2000 or maybe an Audi. The headlights only cost me $50 for the pair, and I can always sell the projectors if I decide not to do it, so I won't be out that much. And at least I will have fun trying it

Can the 06 headlights fit? In other words, did they make any changes to the 06 headlights that would make their shape different? I am interested in swapping my 05 - HID headlights for the 06 projector version.

I realize that, but what I was trying to say was that the cost of doing this retro will be MUCh cheaper than buying '06 lights. I got the headlights for $50 shipped, I can get audi headlights for $70 shipped (still need to work out a price for bulbs and ballasts but should be cheap), and a new harness for $30 So I will be into this for $150 plus bulbs and ballasts (again, probably cheap) Plus I get the satisfaction of doing it myself and enjoying it each time I turn the lights on. Seems that $150-$200 is way cheaper than even one of the OEM 06 lights

i'll keep you posted, and I will absolutely be taking pictures. I'm just waiting on the headlights to get here so I can get some dimensions and decide on what projectors to use. I should be getting started in the next two weeks or so

The 06 headlights will fit, but you need to do a bit of DIYing and splicing of cables. I dont know about you guys in the states, but a set of ballasts, and bulbs in europe can cost close to 500-550 dollars, and then another 200 - 300 for the headlight (decent quality, not cheapo). So personally, just to save myself a couple of hundred bucks, i´d go with the OEM 06 lights, and know they are good.

i like the 06's but I still want a fun DIY project. I lucked out with getting stock halogen headlights off a wrecked Z for $50 shipped(otherwise they would be close to $200 used) and will be able to get bulbs, ballasts, and projectors for pretty cheap as well so it should be a fun thing to fill my downtime.

I thought that the earlier Z's with HIDs simply had to plug them into the 06 headlight HIDs? If the headlight housing is the same shape, wouldn't they just drop right in? If your Z came with halogen lights, then that would be a nice little project, but what if you car already has HIDs. Does anyone know...
