Default Repaint question...

Hey I have a black G35. I have more scratches and chips in the paint then I can stand! It makes my stomach turn when I look at the outside of my car.

So the plan is I want to get the car repainted. I want it the same color. I just want to start from scratch again. How much should something like this coast? Thanx in advance!

+1, if some place tells you less than this you should be looking for a new paintshop.

you can just repaint the chip/scratch part. No need to repain the whole car.

yeah, but I'm sure macco would be happy to quote him 4k and we all know you might as well spray paint your car if you take it to them.

ask friends/family who they go to, or ask your dealership who they go to. the most important thing is to find a reputable shop that does quality work.

obviously you missed the point. Doesn't surprise me though.

A QUALITY paint shop would not charge less than that.

nah, I got the point. I just didn't want this guy to assume that just b/c a shop quotes him 4k, that means it'll be a quality job. maybe you missed my point. but if you want to clarify what you meant by "doesn't surprise me", please proceed.

That is about 70% of the car. My advice would be to just go ahead and repaint the whole thing.

you clarified everything I pointed out by my "doesn't surprise me" line. I notice you ASSUMED again. and that doesn't surprise me either.

But back to the topic: Shop around for a paint shop. ask for pictures of work they have done and customer references. Is their warrantied? In writing? Make sure of all this. Also after you get repainted do yourself a favor and get a Clear Bra for your car.

if you want to insult me why beat around the bush with sarcasm? I don't see how I assumed or instigated anything. does it bother you that I added to your initial comment?

Thanx guys for all the input! I do not know much about clear bras tho... When I get this done im going to put the Greddy Front bumper on instead of the stock one.

After writing this I went to my performance shop. They owe me a BIG favor and they work with a "realy good" autobody shop so they say. FYI the performance shop owner is a friend whom im building their shops website for cheep So he told me that he will get me a realy good deal.. He owe's me

But you guys mentioned some good stuff about seeing customer cars, warrenty. I will def check for that.

Now that I think about it I dont think i need to paint the whole car as rear bumper, trunck, roof, pillers, rear quarter panels, and door jams are all fine.

Plus 2K is a lot better for me right now compaired to 4K.
