Has anyone got the 03-05 tails open? All I see is people saying what could be done, but just wondering if anyone actually has done it. A few members have said the oven method doesnt seem to work.

LED's! I have a great Idea, just need to get on the inside and find out what I am going to have to cut to make it work.

EDIT: The more I have looked at the 06's the less I like them, so I want to make something more original and more exotic

 

member ares (aka king of LEDS haha... well... him and acree) tried opening one two years ago if i remember correctly

it's completely sealed... so the only way to get into it is with a dremel

that's what the is300 guys do when they smoke their tailights

 

well in all fairness, it would not fit in my oven... so I didnt try that. I did try boiling and heat gun. neither seemed to be remotely softening anything.

so I turned to the dremel.

got it apart no problem lol.

but all the kings men couldnt put it back together again.

Why couldnt it go back together? Did you end up dremeling the lense on accedent?

 

Not sure what the clearcorners.com guys do, but they manage to redo all the lighting in there with LEDs.

 

I thought they just put bulbs in there???

EDIT: I looked they put some in the top portion so they do have to get it open. But the main part just looks like one of those pre-assembled circle LED boards. Looks pretty cheap if you ask me....
