HID Retrofit using 350z projectors
Hi guys, I own a 90 Celica GTS that has flip-up sealed beams...
Recently I did a conversion using 350z projectors.. These..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAIR-...53867845QQrdZ1
They are pretty decent.. however this is my first exposure to HIDs..
I'm using a 5000K McCulloch HID kit..
I'm wondering how I can get more light output of them though...
I fitted the projectors into a set of sealed beam H4 conversion housings.. and then I put a plexi glass lens over it all to protect the projector...
I was getting a pretty blodgy beam pattern.. so I had the plexi lens cover in a silver vinyl with a hole in the vinyl right over the projector lens.. that made the pattern a lot smoother now..
However, they still don't seem to be to intense..
Is there a way to get more light out of them.. or is that it? I tried to close the projector up .. the side slits and stuff that bleed light out into the reflector housing.. that didn't help.. I flipped the headlight around.. that gave me a different beam pattern that was U shaped but not nearly as bright..
I looked at pics of HID kit installations on this site and seeing the back of the projector and the clip that holds the bulb in place, I noticed that I had my projectors installed correctly.. So I know all is well with the HID kit, the projectors and my installation.. the question now is, where can I get difference lenses? If that will help?
Thanks guys!

Hey man,
I'm about to buy a Z and have been researching on the HIDs as well.
Seems to me from what I'm finding that the Z projector is not the best do to the headlight being a projector/reflector combo. I would refit some new projectors in there.
Back when I was looking to do a retrofit in my Jetta; I found that the TSX Projectors are the best bang for buck. Also the easiest to retrofit as well.
Good luck man!
