The "What is the Z Missing?" Thread
So what do you think could be improved upon in the Z? Lets keep it to interior/exterior and not include power modifications. For me, I think they could have done away with the cheap center on the dash. I thought mine was dirty and started to rub it but turns out that the top layer of whatever it is just came off leaving a nice white spot about the size of my thumb. Even some plastic would have been better here. Oh and they could have put something more useful than the slide out cupholder, any suggestions on what I can replace it with?

Huh so you rubbed out the center console even though the entire surface and area looks exactly the same because you though it was dirty? I don't think Nissan does and R&D for that. As far as the cuplholder have you ever seen another car put anything but a cupholder in the area of the airbag? Besides maybe a car charger input. I think that holder is much more practical then the loose and goofy ones in the arm rest that can easily tip during spirited driving not to mention be knocked by your elbow.
Dont get me wrong there is plenty with the car id idnt like so i changed to my own touch but these two standard things are nothing short of the standard. Yes the interior center is somewhat bland but most sports cars have ugly interiors anyway. Thats not why you buy them.

I'd like to see a more stable cup holder in the dash, it's fine for 12oz cans of coke but cups from drive throughs are very unstable.
I also really miss window remote control, on my previous car I could crack the windows when locking the car from the remote and could also then wind the windows up using the remote. In southern Alabama it is very desirable to crack the windows if parking somewhere safe, but now I have to do it myself and when the afternoon thunderstorms roll in I have to run all the way to the car in the rain to roll them up again.
I'd also prefer the headlight high/low beam lever to be a toggle so pulling it changes the state of the lights.

You can just hold down the open button on the remote and your windows will go down....... then you can lock the car. To roll them down you stick the key in the door but you still have to run out to the car for that.

Interior:
- Intelligent Key like the G35
- Integrated Bluetooth like the G35
- Thicker steering wheel like the BMW M3, factory one is too thin and doesn't feel sporty enough
Exterior:
- Sunroof or Targa Top
- HID headlights that adjust and turn according to the steering
- HID Fog Lights
- LED Turn Signals
- Cross Drilled Rotors
Most of the items above can be added on with aftermarket parts, but it's something Nissan can look into for the 2007/2008 Z models.

all of the above,
but the thing I wish for the most is better service from Nissan
sometimes I wish that Z was its own independent manufacturer, and each generation was the sole dedication of this company, instead of having to share resources like R&D and manufacturing cost with altimas, sentras, and quests etc... and then having to give all the money to infiniti to make their cars plush when we should be enjoying these things..... dont get me started

I should be thankful that my car is not of higher quality? Performance? or more unique?, I could care less about how affordable it is! This franchise is a legend.. that is worth a small sacrifice.... No one said Uniqueness would be cheap I would still pay..... I've owned every generation except for the 240Z, I have seen little things disapear as a new gen comes out, if any thing these little things that made this car so great in the past should evolve into things that make this car so unique now, I beleive this franchise deserves more than a share.... If porche was a 27k car you'd be spending a lot of time and energy demanding descent costumer service.... and you'd be worrying about what the depreciation of your baby would be in 10 years..... I just want to spend a descent amount of money and have my Z's retain that luster and desire for decades to come, thats all BTW what Z's do you own?

- NISMO Edition from the factory
- Engine Start button, with wireless key validation
- Super Charger and/or Twin Turbo options from the factory
- V8 option for those who want NA instead of FI
- Premium Audio option (no the BOSE crap)
- Better seats, or the option of Recaro's like so many other manufacturers
- MOMO steering wheel options for the US market (with cruise control)

its not what is missing... its what is included... they should have made a true track package with pure weight reduction... drop everything except what is needed to make the vehicle move... and work somewhat as a daily driver... meaning carpeting maybe... that sorta thing...
