Default aftermarket seat info...

I'm thinking about getting some racing seats so I can run harnesses and lighten the car up some. I have read a few people who put the racing seats in and they actually sat taller on the brackets than the stock seats. I am primarily looking at some OMP racing seats (about 16lbs each) and the OMP brackets.

Who has racing seats/brackets installed and the seating position is equal to or lower than stock? Any info on what seat you run would be great.

I do. i sit lower than stock, thanks to custom seat rails for my Sparcos (made by Richey@ Technosquare)

MoreJapan (part of Signal Auto's group) sells Super-low seat rails that can be fitted with more side mount racing buckets. i haven't tried them, but they look similar to the ones that were made for me. (i just used stock Sparco sliders, and welded the seat brackets to the sliders, and welded that to a frame, which i bolted in the car)

here is an example.. *this is not my car, but a race car Technosquare was building*

good luck-

Hi-jack #2...What do I do with SRS bolster bags when the aftermarket seats go in. I'm sure the SRS dash light will go on, right?

Do you think that these OMP RS seats (http://rallynuts.com/motorsport/OMP%..._Seat_1793.asp) will mount correctly to those low profile sidemount sliders (http://www.more-japan.com/Nagisa-Aut...R-p-16325.html)??

if it's a side mount racing bucket? i think so-

for the tabbed bottom mount, you'd probably have to weld/fabricate some type of bar that goes underneath the seat, and attach the seat to that, and then the bolt those bars to the sliders-

It looks as if Drift Factory has the Nagisa Auto SLR seat rails for the cheapest ($313.50 + $18.50 shipping for the combo compared to $330 + $27.50 shipping at more japan).

After researching more for the best seat for the money I think I have decided on is probably the OMP RS (link here that I posted before...comes from the RallyNuts in the UK, but with shipping included it is still only $359 per seat which is cheaper than anywhere I could find in the US. They are fiberglass construction and weigh 16.3lbs each w/ 5-point harness slots and sidemount only)...

...Let me know your opinions. I am trying to do this purchase after recieving my paycheck on friday and need to know exactly what seats I am getting. I would consider a sparco or a bride seat, but I don't want to spend $500+ per seat.

Tell me what you think....should I save a little bit of money and go with a cheaper seat like the OMP or would I be better off spending about $530/seat and getting the Cobra Imola II's that are made of Kevlar and weigh about 15lbs each???

Also, I called Subesports tonight to talk to them about the cobra seats and they said it is never recommended to mount a fixed seat to a slider (because I was planning on the Nagisa Auto super low rails). It should always be mounted in a fixed position on the floor. Whats your take on this???
