carbon fiber is sorta like nudity, its not good in gratuitous applications.

 

Not to mention distasteful...that front grill looks like its held on by tape in the pic.

 

Looks terrible. Ricer parts all the way.

I personally like the rear wing. I think the potato peeler wings look good on certain cars.

Not to start a flame war but i think its kind of interesting how people are quick to jump on the "RICER" bandwagon when they don't like something on Japanese cars. I've been modifying my japanese cars for the better part of 12 years now (mugen, HKS, Trust)...a decade before the Fast N the Furious and i've watched the import subculture become what it is today...something that is less about performance and more about stickers, neon, fake cheap parts, and others aspects of poseurdom. And YES everyone is entitled to their opinion but without these companies using materials, design, and technology that come from professional racing we'd be talking about the stock Rays wheels all day now wouldn't we? So i take these aftermarket parts and accessories for what they are and if i don't like them then i walk away without using epithets that in many ways demean the whole import industry.

 

ONE person used the word 'rice.' The rest of us all commented on the distasteful appearance. Sorry, I don't think we are "demeaning the whole industry."

 

Get off your soap box!!! This is a public forum. Ricer is the correct term for this as it does nothing to add performance to the car. All these carbon fibre "stick ons" do is take away from the bold styling cues of the Z. Soon some designers will come up with kits that compliment the look of the Z rather than detract from it. I will not be calling those kits "rice". After you get these carbon stick ons jimster, are you going to add a big red "R" to your rear window?

 

But by your own definition, rice is something that does not add performance, so won't even the good looking ones be rice? I agree they look terrible. I don't generally consider small simple aesthetic things like these rice. It's when it's super gaudy, and way overly done and accompanied by big wings and vinyl stick-on decals and a fart pipe with nothing else behind it that I call ricer.

You're right it is a pubic forum so don't take things so personally as I was referring to many people's comments on this board including yours. And as much as you like to say 'rice' i'd like to give my opinion once if it's okay. Funny what a search on one member will do...you seem to call any bodykit that doesn't, IN YOUR OPINION, enhance the lines of the Z as 'rice' yet you're all over a set of LED's. Don't let the door of hypocrisy hit you in the *** on the way out. You intend on shelling out $5k for an engine upgrade which would most likely include forced induction at an estimated 380-450 hp from the numbers i've seen thrown around. Cars in the JGTC (All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship maybe in Cleveland you don't know but that's the premier series for RICERS) run either 300 or 500hp using wings like these from companies you love to bash. They must serve some purpose besides pissing you off. Stick to the rustangs cuz your anti-rice soapbox comes with bleach...meaning all white.
