Hey guys,
My buddy used to own a Mistu Lancer EVO8. He purchased the vortex generator used on the MR version mostly for looks and also for its ability to add downforce. The part built for the MR was obviously custom to the EVO8. So he asked himself, "what if I split them up individually, and created guides so the fins are properly angled (otherwise they wouldn't work), for universal application on any car?"
The end result is below. He'd like to hear your opinions on this product. He has created packaging and guides with templates so the vortex generators are functional. In short, vortex generators reduce turbulent air and creates a vortex which falls faster, hence falling faster early enough to put more downforce on the back end of your car. Many forms of airplanes use vortex generators, as do race cars.
Anyhow, they stick on using really strong adhesive 3m foam tape. You can pull on them and they won't come off.
My apologies, i had to crop the images for the forum. I have much more detailed pictures.
What do you guys think?!

Ive read that they wont help the Z unless its matched with a High wing like on the EVO's....The Z has zero lift stock so adding those may hurt the aero without a high wing...I wish I could remember where I read that...

There was another thread on here a while back discussing these and they did some string testing on a Z with them; posted up viseos and everything. There are also universal stick-on vortex generators available already (link was in that thread).
Did your friend do any string testing with these on to see how they were affecting airflow? They look like they are mounted abit high; the ones I saw tested before were mounted at the top of the rear glass, which looked much better. I'll see if I can find the thread...

Here's the thread:

pics and vids no longer work, but there's alot of discussion and the links to where to buy the vortex generators are in post #19.

Thanks for the fedback guys
Yeah, they weren't designed for the Z. Like I said, it's more for universal application. I'll have to tell my buddy to look into string testing them. I'm really curious if they hurt the aero on the Z. It's too bad the pics and video don't work =/ I'll post back here soon.

Yeah, basically what the guy did was take some 6-8" lengths of yarn and tape them to various locations on the rear window and wing of the car; you could really tell the diff. in turbulence with and without the vortex generators. Then experiment with different amounts of generators in different locations to optimize airflow.

Hmm, I see. Yeah, I dunno if the other guy knew that or not or experimented with them at any other location than the one that seemed logical and looked the best. They DID havea positive effect in that location, from the vids he posted, though (might have been better, even, if they were furrther forward, as you say).
