Paint '06 Super Black or keep it Magnetic Black?
I have an opportunity to spray the entire car.
I have to spray my aftermarket Bumper, Bonnet, Skirts, Rear Lip, and fenders. The guy spraying the car said, although he could match the colour he would probably just recomend spraying the whole car and get rid of any slight damage (dings, etc.) in the process. While there really isn't much to fix if anything. He isn't charging a whole hell of a lot more to do it.
My dilemna is, I don't 'LOVE' magnetic Black. I really like Super Black. The same ducar man sprayed my freinds Tundra Super Black with lots of clear and the car just always looks so sexy. Always has thhat wet look, and the black looks more 'black'. I find the MB has a 'bluish tinge to it sometimes, if you knwo what I mean.
Anyway, question is. Do I spend the extra and spray it SB, or don't bother. I'll get used to the MB and love it?
You may ask yourself, if I love the SB, then why don't i just do it. Well I was thinking I won't have to spray the engine bay, cause it won't be like spraying the car a completely different colour.. But, I may be wrong.
I guess this question in for MB owners, that have either started to love their colour even though they might not have at first. (And cause I know SB owners love their colour, I think they'll just say spray it SB. LOL.)

why not just change to a whole new unique color then?
If you really want to keep it "black", I'd suggest the Ferrari black...that's one of the shiniest, sharpest black I have ever seen, with a lot of silver flakes.

Question though. Will it look messed up when I open my bonnet and the engine bay isn't the same coloour. I am not going through the expense of taking out the engine.
Not like my car will ever be a show car, but I don't want it to look stupid.
I'll be able to get the Ferrari Black paint code online right?

Used to be a custom painter here...
All depends on what you want and what advantages you want.
If pure unmixed black, that will be the easiest color to fix.
Black is the easiest color to match because it does not have a shadow and does not need to be blended.
(For example, white can have a shadow when you have clear in the middle sometimes when working in a small blend area [sort of like holding a piece of paper above another piece of paper--shadow occurs).
Black is not the most dazling (have to misspell it with one 'z' because it got the * subbed in with two 'z's) color to me as I can see it anytime I close my eyes, unlike a beautiful royal blue that comes on these cars or Torch Red that comes on the Vettes.
Black's biggest dazling feature is that the color does not shine/reflect light, so the shine from the clear is that much more noticable.
I am a fan of a super glossy finish, so of course I appreciate black for what it can do.
The one thing I would make sure though is to have the clear as smooth as possible with that color since the finish will be much more apparent.
For me, it would be pure unmixed black, a couple coats of clear, wet sand with 2000 grit, polish with a high watt bulb shining on the surface to make sure you get all the sand lines out for the hardest shine possible.
And you, whitebwoy, get the first post from me (first post on this forum).

You might as well paint it a different color black. When Nissan jams the engine bay they either don't clear it or clear it with a flattening agent. Or mine is like that anyway. I wouldn't go with an unmixed black. You can get a nice shiny look out of it, but come on how many people have a pure black car. Definatly go with something mettalic. I would definatly jam everything else besides the engine bay though.

The Ferrari Black is really getting me excited. Never thought about it before, but the ferrari and even the Lambo's look so sharp in black.
I'll have to do some research into how to mix that black. NItrouz said it has silver flakes in it, which is probably why it's so sharp.
If anyone can give me a lead on how to find the paint code for the black on Ferrari's, please help.

Found some site that may have the paint code, but they have 'black clearcoat', and 'black metallic clearcoat'.
Which one is going to be more sharp black. I don't like black that looks almost bluish in the sun, if you know what i mean. I want that hard sharp black.
I am not sure if the suggestion from Nitrouz with the silver flakes means it's metallic. But if it's silver flakes instead of the blue or green flakes I see in some black metallic, it might just give it that sharp black look Im going for.

Road and Track did a pretty complete write up on which car colors were the fastest, which got better gas miliage, and which was able to pick up more chicks with. Anyone got that review saved to their hard drive?

The difference in those two is one is metallic and one's not.

I know.
I am sayin, does the metallic always make the black have a 'coloured' tint to it? Or can it make the black look real sharp, like I am GUESSING is the case with 'ferrri black'?

Thats why I was saying go with the original Super Black.
I know for sure I don't want Magnetic Black now. I hate not having the car look sharp black. I want that wet look as well. The MB doesn't have it as much as the SB in my opinion.
But now with this whole idea of 'Ferrari Black' I just don't know. I mean, there aren't many 350z here. I'd be surprised if one single black one was here actually. I know of a blue, orange, white and silver. That's it. And to be honest, if the car wasn't a fctory colour I don't think I'd be very upset. Always wanted that custom look anyway.
It's not like it's a signature colour or anything. I mean, I can understand having an Anniversary model in the only colours it came in, cause that's keeping it authentic. Almost like how I'd never paint or buy a Honda Type R in any other colour than Championship white with red interior, because that's their signature colour.
Get my drift?

I have a SB Z and if I would have to respray my entire car, it would be a metallic black color. I suggest going for a metallic black like the ferrari black, you can't go wrong with that...
