Default installing racing harnesses

so im putting in racing harnesses from hopupracing.com into my 300zx. and in just wondering, what are some ways you guys put in harnesses in the 350? i know that the shoulder support has to be at or above shoulder level... what did you guys do for this? does it require extensive fabrication for a bar? or are there any available prefabricated bars out there that just simply bolt onto the floor and side walls? thanks for anybody's help!

It will depend on how the harnesses that you bought mount to the vehicle.

thats true if you are racing...
but for street set up... you are not pulling enough latteral forces in the corners to flip the car... (well unless you are seriously pushing it and suicidal)
a lot of the people with harness are doing it for show..

Are you willing to bet your life on it? That's the real question. Yes, people will continue to do idiotic things no matter what, but some things just aren't worth it.

Just because someone sells a product, doesn't mean you shouldn't use your head before buying it.

Well maybe you could explain why you shouldn't use a harness without a full cage?

Personally, I don't see what's wrong as long as the mounting point for the shoulder bar is at the correct angle from shoulders. Please enlighten us.

The main reason that you don't use harnesses without a cage is that if the car were to turn over, you would be crushed because you would not be able to move out of the way. With the stock 3 point belts, you would still be able to move your shoulders and head. A cage makes sure that the roof of the car cannot be crushed and therefore come down on your head.

I see what your are saying. Basically, with how many four point harnesses are you only have neck movement as compared to 3-point stock which allows for more body movement also and is designed for more forward restraint than side-to-side.

it works both ways, you should never run a cage in a street car, unless you wear a helmet all the time.

4-point harnesses are also a no-no...they're no longer legal for racing organizations. The main reason is that under high decelleration (front impact crashes), a persons body can attempt to slip forward (under the belts) and crushes the internal organs, causing severe damage! Use 5 or 6 point harnesses.

Also, Harnesses aren't street legal (at least in Cali).
