Sounds interesting. I would like to see pics. But, I have to say, I would be pissed if every single Z out there had a sunroof all of a sudden! There was probably a reason Nissan didn't make a sunroof in the first place!

I had a 1990 300ZX TT with T-Tops. Afte 10 years, I only had a small drip from one point of the T-Top. Granted, T-Tops are not sunroofs and these were OEM T-Tops.

I want them to come out with T-tops on the new Z! Maybe they are just holding it back to spike sales in the future? I've heard the excuse that the roof is too curved, but I am not sure if I buy it.

Default sunroof/t-top

I bought the Z, in part, because it doesn't have a hole in the roof. I have been forced, over the years, to buy cars with options I did not want and paid extra for them. I would not buy a Z with either option. A hole in the roof is still a reduction in the car's rigidity and is just one more way to extract more money from the customer.

Also, aftermarket sunroofs will reduce its value when you trade it in. If it was not an original option, its value on the used car maket is less. My last 5 cars had sunroofs or t-tops and it burned me up to have to pay extra for an option that reduced my headroom and increased the car's price.

No disrespect intended, but why didn't you just order one that did not come with a sunroof? Or did it come mandatory as part of a package or something?

They were ALL mandatory. Several models I wanted to buy had them as mandatory options and I couldn't fit. My wonderful MR2 T had t-tops, I took them off 6 times in 7 years and 128,000 miles and every time I drove over uneven pavement I could feel the chassis twist like a pretzel. The last car I owned that did not have a hole in the roof was my 1982 Mustang GT. I sold it in 1985 after I bought my first Japanese car, a 1984 Honda Prelude W/SR. My 88 Prelude had one, all 3 Maximas, my 97 Accord EX, OH the Horror! I think thats almost 18 years of mandatory options to get the SE, the sport model of everything had a HOLE IN THE DAMN ROOF!!

I HATE THEM!

Boomer--OK, that's enough. Anything else?

Dude, you were LUCKY! Those 90 weather seals were crap. Every time it rained I got that look on my face like "oh god, the dripping begins".... I also think another concern/consideration of Nissan is the small cargo area - most companies that make T-Tops also need to make room in the car for those tops to go in. Look at the Del Sol for instance - what a well designed system to put the top in the trunk.

I had an 86 Z with t-tops, and they did leak at one point. It was a quick and simple easy fix, however. I just go tnew stripping (the black rubber stuff) and my car didn't leak anymore. It was also about 13 years old at the time it started to leak. I don't think that's bad at all!

Maybe there is no 350Z with sunroof and that's why we have no pics?

(Sorry, I'm impatient.)

Thanks for the pics, Blaque. It looks good from the inside. I just wish it looked a little bigger on the outside. And that was with it tilted up, correct? And it opens fully as well?

Contrary to the opinion, cars with sunroofs from the factory tend to have more structural rigidity than those without. That's why in many race series manufacturers take a car w/ a sunroof first, then take out the sunroof then put more bars in place of it. Cars w/ factory sunroofs already have more structural reinforcement than those without... An example would be the current E46 3-series BMW, the sunroof version actually has a higher torsional rigidity than the non-sunroof version. Interesting eh?

Surprising, actually. Makes no difference to me, I wouldn't buy one unless I had to to get a model I wanted.

That is definitely interesting! Where do they post stats like that. Did you get it out of a mag or something? (Just curious... I have no idea!)
