Default Paint Protectant for New Cars

What are your opinions on the paint protectant stuff the dealership offers when you buy your new car? I believe it runs about $500. I know each dealership has their own version of it, but if you are a fan of the dealer paint protectant, can you please share your experience with the product and please tell us what brand it is too. If you think these things are not worth it, what would you recommend as an alternative. I enjoy washing and waxing my car, so if your solution is a DIY thing, please recommend away.

I have seen 2 of my mates have brand new cars paint protected, it wrecks the paint IMO, shows age sooner than the paint would otherwise. A few friends with paint shops don't like sorting out the mess a few years down the track.

Invest in good quality car cleaning products and wax etc and you zed will be fine.

So they don't actually seal the paint?

Complete waste and just a way for the dealer to make extra cash. They don't actually make much money on the cars themselves; it's talking people into crap like this that lines their pockets. Skip it and use a good wax/polish of your choice.

How well does the Zaino stuff actually work? Curious, cause I've always used Meguiar's products. Never tried anything else.

a nicely laid clear bra does wonders for your front end.

Paint protection packages are for suckers, and dealerships love no one more

Since you love detailing the car, invest that money towards some top notch supplies.

The Z came with the clear coat from the factory already. Don't purchase the so-called paint protector from the dealer. If you have $500 to throw around, invest on the 3M clear bra.

nearly everything they try to sell that is dealer installed is fluff. basically just stuff to make extra money for the dealer. sealant, rustproofing, extended warranty, oil additives, etc. can some of it help you? maybe. but I gurantee the dealer still makes out better than you.
