Has anyone painted thier stock intake tube? This question was brought up as a side question in another thread so most people probably did not see it. Anyways, the stock intake tube seems to be the same plastic material found on the engine cover and several other things in the engine bay. If we were to use the same paint found at a local car parts shop do you think that it would hold up well with the engine temps???

since the stock z tube has a flexible section (accordion looking part), I think it would look odd painted.

seriously, if you want to, do it. people paint there engine covers and do other things for cosmetics.

 

becuase i am going to paing the engine, battery, and power steering covers soon and was wondering about the intake tube. It is a good winter project.

 

it's actually a horrible winter project... paint probably won't cure right and it'd flake off later in the season.

and most people painting those types of things makes it look incredibly cheap. just leave it alone

 

if done right it can look good, and if not i'll just get carbon covers

Just buy a polished or chrome intake tube.

That's a good winter project.

Plastic is plastic. The same method use to paint the plastic engine cover can be used to paint the Z-tube.
