Default Doing oil change but a BIG oops!!!

Well I was doing my oil change LATE at NIGHT and I couldn't see anything and I accidentally jacked up the car in the wrong spot. I actually jacked it up where you were to lay your right foot if you were sitting in the passenger seat.

Long story short, I now have a nice fu**ing lump inside my car in the passenger foot area... big enough that i almost punched a couple of holes in my wall... I know its at my fault but wow my luck for today (monday) is unbelievably horrible... Has this happened to anyone in their or in any other of their cars? Any fix or solution besides hammering, because it does seem pretty bad. My friend told me to look out for a good $700.00... WOWOWOW i cant express or use any words to describe how mad, pissed off, and stupid I fell. Tommorow morning when i go to work... i will cry ;'(

HELP! Feedback! Cheer me up lol!

LOL - I did the same thing. I actually couldn't get the hump to go down so I shaved the styrafoam (sp?) piece down a bit. Now it feels normal. GL

There are no new screw ups. All of them have been done before.

I had a similar problem with a 260Z. I accidentally put the jack under the drivers floor. The result was a big hump in the floor. A body shop took care of the hump with a big hammer. Unfortunately under the car the rust preventive material came off. I had the area repainted with a thick coat of rust inhibitor. The bill was about $100.

Edit: BTW if the hump is near the peddles, a hammer will not work: no room to swing the thing. The floor must be pulled from under the car.

Ive done this also, thinking it was the frame, I beat that floor board like it owed me money. Problem fixed, no issues underneath, lesson learned.

If you go to pound out the dent with a mallet, use a piece of wood between the mallet and the floor so you get more evenly distributed force.

It happens...that area you jacked the car up on looks WAYYY too much like the frame.

Been there, done that... but not to a Z.

I did this to my Maxima years ago. Wanted to save some time and lift the entire side of the car to rotate the tires (instead of lifting it one wheel at a time and using jackstands).

I put the jack under what I thought was the frame under the driver seat to lift the side. Everything seemed great until I sat in the car... that's when I discovered that my driver seat was severely leaning toward the middle. Cost me couple hundred $ to get it fixed at a body shop.

Live and learn. Get it fixed and feel better, knowing that you will never make this mistake again.
