InStant Fill replacement gas cap. Bad idea?

I am thinking about getting this for the Z. I hate removing the gas cap and letting it hang there and scratch my paint. This seems like this would work great.

Does anyone have this already? Does anyone think it would be a terrible idea?
Thanks,

Refueling is now quicker and cleaner than ever.
Removing a gas cap can be a difficult, dirty task. And replacing one after you forget about it and drive away can be expensive. The InStant Fill's trap door mechanism accommodates the gas nozzle, eliminating the hassle of removing and replacing the cap each time you refuel. With the InStant Fill fuel cap, just insert the nozzle fully and squeeze the trigger. You’ll never touch a fuel cap again! Four different models fit over 80% of the cars on the road in North America and InStant Fill meets onboard diagnostic (OBD) emission specifications, so it will not trigger the "check engine" light on late model vehicles. Not recommended for use in areas where vapor recovery nozzles are used.

I think it's a neat idea. But honestly unless you are trying to make a pit stop out of your fill up, i'd leave it how it is. I know our cars rely on a certain amount of pressure in the tank. And i think if that cap leaks even a little it will cause issues with the venting etc. of the gas tank. SO probably more trouble then it's worth. My 2 cents.

I see your point. I am interested in it completely for the paint saving. Both my Sentra and my Frontier had a plastic holder that the gas cap would clip into on the inside of the fuel door. This was so much nicer than the tether system the Z has. I hate the thought of the gas cap sliding along my paint, especially when the car is dirty.
I could just cut the tether off and set the cap on the pump, but I though InStant Fill cap would be easier and eliminate the risk of forgetting the cap. For $15, I am thinking about pulling the trigger and giving it a shot.

If you don't like you gas cap to hang down then just take off the plastic strap that holds it on. If your in a state where they pump your gas for you(im in NJ i don't have to any of it) then the guy will put your cap on top of the pump instead of just letting it lay there

Full service gas stations are a thing of the past (for the most part) here in Michigan.

Michigan gas stations are not required to have these type of nozzles. Apprently environmentalists are pissed about it too. Seems like Michigan is one of the last states to mandate the use of vapor recovery systems. WTG Michigan
