***DIFFERENT HID Headlights???***

Is is possible change the stock HID's in the Z? I noticed that those on the G35 have more of a blue/purple tint? How much would this cost and is it possible to do yourself? Which are better?
Blue light is worse in rain or fog since blue light scatters in moisture.
It probably isn't a LOT worse, so it depends on how much you like the look and how much you drive out in the country after dark.

yes, the Z has 4500 bulbs I think, some have gone as high as 8000, the bulbs in the Z are the brightest light you can possibly have, by going to a higher amount you are limiting it.

I have a base Z and got a phillips ultinon kit put in. It looks white with a hint of violet in the housing, but mainly white. I'm glad it doesn't look anythink like those blue colored halogens kid put in their Civics. On the road, it is white with just a hint of blue. It may not be as bright as the stock HID's, but it's way brighter than stock halogens.
Do a search for ultinons, skidazzle got some, btw they are 5800K.
IMO, not worth upgrading if you already have HID's. the blueish tint on most cars with HID's is due to the housing/projector design, not gonna get it on the Z.

The Z's HID bulbs are 4300k rated. The higher the k rating, the bluer/purple they get. The are NOT BRIGHTER.. that is a huge misconception! HIGHER RATING.. LOWER BRIGHTNESS.. MORE BLUE/PURPLE VISABILITY. Lexus, S2k, and other name brands I belive use 5200k.

Although rating the bulbs in lumens is a good start (which he does) he does not appear to address the refraction problem (blue light scatter) or the response curves of the human eye. Blue Scatter:
If you take two bulbs of the same brightness (lumens) but two different colors (4500K vs 7000K) the light output is the same, but the USEFULL light output can be very different. In conditions of high humidity (worst in fog and rain) the bluer light will scatter more as it attempts to travel from the bulb, to the objects you are trying to see, and back again. So, the bluer light will result in less light being bounced off of the distant objects and back in to your eyeball.
The fact that atmospheric moisture scatters blue light more is why the sky is blue.
Human Eye Response:
Another factor is that human eyes are most sensitive to light in the green/yellow region. The sensitivity falls off as you move from yellow towards blue So, the closer to daylight the more sensitive your eye is to the light. The blue lights put more of their power output in to the blue region of the spectrum where the human eye is less sesnitive.
Blue Scatter + Eye response = double whammy
So, if you like the look of blue bulbs you can go for it, but you will be paying money to lower the effectiveness of your headlights. (unless you find bulbs with enough additional brightness to compensate for the problems with blue light)
And I bet that is more than you really wanted to know.

Anyone know if we would need to purchase the bulb adapter from misterjung?? I think its like $15 or something. Thats not too bad though its like $65 a bulb from misterjung, might look into that. And was size is the HID bulb for the Z?

As for the " flash to pass", yes, you have to wait one second. I know full well about the longevity issue with quick flashing.
But damn those mother F%@*ers are bright. People tend to move over on the freeway right quick when i turn them on.
Come on man, look at the light.....tell me you truely think that is a "hyperwhite bulb!!!!??????

i like the blue color on my Z u know when u first start ur engine then turn ur headlights on the halogen blue i like that i wish my headlights would stay that color the whole time instead of slowly fading to yellow/white... the acura lights on cl or tl's are nice thats wuh i wnt how do i get them?
