Default HID to Halogen and back again?

My car's headlights are HIDs, obviously, because I have touring. They have stress cracks though and I am trying to find out if I buy a halogen headlight, will I be able to easily install the HIDs back into these headlights?

Thanks for looking.

It's not a hard procedure... if you don't mind opening the headlights, cutting a hole in the bottom of the housing for the ballast, unmounting the Halogen projector and mounting in your HID projector then re-sealing your headlight and installing the HID components.

I'll do it for $100.

Or you could just swap out the covers and keep your stock HID housings, much easier route

how easy is this to do? Do I just take apart the housing and use the new lens?

If you are talking about using base model Halogen housings, it can be done, but the opening on the halogen bulb area is slightly different. You will have to swap the retainer clip setup from the Xenon on to the Halogen. You will also have to change harnesses. The ballast mounting location is the same on the Halogen housing ( it wouldn't make sense to produce a whole different back housing just for the Base model). It bolts right up with the three screws. This is exactly what I did after my accident. Halogen lights are a lot cheaper on Ebay than the fully loaded Xenons and they look great.

I bought base headlights off ebay for $230 for the pair and bought an HID kit from gnarkill for $200 it was plug and play. Spent $430 which is way cheaper then any HID ready headlight or pair that is. Plus he has a variety of colors to get, I got 8000K and it looks bettr then the stock Z's for sure.

Same here on the 800x. They are the wrong ones for my year D2S, but they look fine for whatever reason. I think the light field is just wider because there is no sheild on it.. Cheaper too...
