!Amber strip in headlight!
Does anyone else think the front of the car would look great without this amber strip in the headlight, i for one think it will enhance the appearance of my Z, does anyone know how we could do this or does anyone have pics from the shop manual maybe we can call get together here and find out a nice clean way to do this with out messing up our headlights!
just a thought

Don't forget, if you remove the amber strip, remove the bulb behind it. I'm pretty sure the bulb is amber also.
I recommend putting in a white reflector strip with a white, not blue-white, just solid bright white bulb in behind it.
Personally, I have yellow LED's in my reflectors, so I'm keeping my amber headlight reflectors, so they match though

that is your turn signal, very illegal, and a very good way to **** a cop off if that is anything other than amber.
also for those with clear sidemarkers, as long as that strip is there, your still half way legal.
ok, with that crap out of the way. to remove it youd need to get into the housing, most likely by heating it to loosen the seal. too much heat, you melt the plastic, too little and you crack the lens trying. and at like 400-500 EACH, you dont want to hurt that housing...
not to mention replacing that reflector with a clear peice is far far far far far far from inexpensive. Ive been dealing with plastics for the tail light, and if I had to guess, your looking at about 800$ start up cost(you need 2 tools for the 2 sides), and atleast 70-80$ for each strip to be produced, youd also need to commit to a few sets. which youll be tough to find enough people willing to risk such an expensive part to open up and pay 150+$ to do it.

there must be other way what if u just take out the strip and leave that space empty or u can paint the strip with some special paint or do something to change its color the problem would be getting into the headlight assembly and resealing it

Its not illegal if it flashes orange when lit. The G35coupe has a very similar strip and guess what? IT IS CLEAR. I assume it has an amber bulb though. It would be a ***** to change though and because it is a sealed unit, an aftermarket replacement (you know someone will make it sooner or later) will be pricey.

I didnt mean to make that sound like the end of the world tho, I got plenty of illegal stuff in my car.

The amber reflector on the Z is only needed because the law requires an amber "reflex reflector" PLUS an amber "side-marker." Since the lower side-markers from the factory are non-illuminated, they use the lens in the headlight to illuminate amber. However, you cannot have one without the other.. both are technically needed in order for the 350Z to be road-legal.
On the G35, the side-marker illuminates and also reflects, so the light in the headlight does not matter -- hence the reason it is clear.
As for FRONT turn signals, those can be either white or amber. Obviously on the Z and G35, they are amber bulbs.. but I think white is also permitted.
