Very unusual. I have never seen damage like that inside the car.

Do you wear chains on your wrists?

The damage at the bottom of the shift lever is queer because that is a part that you normally do not touch.

What does the passenger side look like?
Are you using some sort of ammonia spray?

Definitely send the photos to Nissan. Maybe they will not give you a new interior, but they may be able to determine the cause.

Not calling you a liar or anything but I have a 2003 with 41,000 on it and i still have yet to scratch the interior. Do you let a dog ride inside your Z? Even my pit has put his paws on my doors inside and this has never happened. Can you give us some more detail please. Is it really just as simple as they are there and I don't know why? I'm confused because it looks beat up.
I considered a pet until I saw the volume control damage. Pets don't turn *****.

No wear in my 03. That looks horrible. What have you been cleaning your interior with every 2 weeks?

I have the 03s that actually came out in late 02. I have almost 60k miles and my interior looks nothing like that. Honestly, if I were Nissan and I saw all that wear in such a new car I wouldn't believe it was normal wear and tear. i'd think that you abused the **** out of the car and was trying to get freebees off me. but that really sucks that they won't help you out.

appears to be a chemical reaction (rubbing alcohol, acetone?). Def, not normal. I.ve cleaned my 04 with lots of different cleaners and still looks flawless.

I'd have to agree that it's not normal wear. I've got cars that are 10 and 13 years old that don't show that much wear. I find it hard to believe it's an isolated case of defective materials, thousands of interiors would be made from the same batch of product. The chance of all those pieces being made by the same company from defective product is pretty slim too. It's got to be something environmental or external that's causing it.

Maybe you have a family of rats living in your car and at night they gnaw and scratch around for food or a way to get out.

I did wonder for a minute whether he has a claw or other mechanical appendage but I didn't want to ask in public.

And from the looks of it, those rats also flip the car into 6th gear and pump some music while they take the car for midnight joy rides.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought to myself, if he has a hook for a hand, and is still completely baffled as to where the damage might be coming from, then he deserves to hear it this way, even if it is a little rough (sorry if I offended anyone with a prosthetic out there)

Ouch! What cleaners have you been using on the interior, so that everyone else here can avoid it?!

This thread is amazing....

Ok, here is my guess..

You use the rim cleaner on your interior which strips away the paint or clear coating..

And on the arm rests your throwing your keys in there and using your key to open your Navi hatch....

Im in awe thats an 06..

I'm willing to bet it's whatever you're using for the interior that's causing the damage too. It looks like the interior was meticulously cleaned with a damaging product. If you have roommates, they'd be my first suspect for swapping out your cleaners as a prank
