Is This happening To You?
Do you know if the car was detailed before you bought it? I'm thinking that a porter may have used some harsh chemicals that weakend the coatings before you even bought it. If you really dont use anything on the interior, thats the only thing I can come up with...

Dude, I have an 03 with 78k on the odo, I hardly ever wash it, and I'm clumsy as ****.
I don't have ANY of that wear.
Call a lawyer, seriously. Show him the pics, then find pics of other cars with similar "wear" on them. Usually you can get a free consultation with an attorney...

How about this... when they were building the car, some kind of chemical got on before it was finished... although that really doesn't make much sense.
OP, the ONLY time I've seen bubbling like that was when I used paint stripper chemicals. Are you SURE someone didn't do this to you? Did you EVER have your car washed or detailed by someone else?
I'm not saying it was you, but to have every part do this from the factory is almost impossible.

I have a 2004 and my interior is nearly flawless except for some scratches on the driver's seat caused by the previous owners keys. I recommend you take it back to the dealer because they are full of **** saying that's "normal wear and tear."

but it is strange that everywhere you touch is the area that's messed up

Can all of the people with problems post their info on their car? Lets try to figure out if they were all built at the same factory, or came in at close to the same vin number, or something like that. If we do a little research, we can find out if they are all from the same lineage.
You should be able to find out the date (at least within a month) of when it was built, and the vin number should indicate both the number off of the manufacturing line, as well as the plant it was produced at.
If that doesn't work, we can do a family tree/geneology search, and figure out if all of you are carrying the mutant gene.

You can tell that it's some kind of harsh chemical by looking at the shifter ****...looks just like what happens when you apply varnish remover to an old piece of furniture, it just starts to peel like that. BTW my '03 with 45k miles looks almost pristine on the inside.

To give you some history on the Z, I bought it new on 1/25/07(yes I remember the exact date) it's 40 shy of 22,000 miles and I detail it at least once every two weeks.
I'm not even going to complain about the paint on the Z's because it's pointless. I'll just assume Nissan wanted to keep the weight down and only spray one coat of paint and one coat of clear.
I contacted Nissan USA and asked for their help only to have them call the dealer and tell me the dealers are Nissan's eyes and ears and it seems to be normal wear and tear, the person from Nissan USA(Phil) told me he would send the issue to some other department. I offered to send picture and was told that would not be necessary.
please let me know of any issues you may have had similar to mine and also issues of dealers not wanting to honor Nissan's warranty. I plan to forward all your responses to Nissan USA.
