Default Left foot rest

My wife's 07 Roadster foot rest (to the left of the clutch pedal) came completely off while she was driving and almost caused a crash. I looked at the way it is fixed to the floor board and could not believe how flimsy the installtion is. The four philips screws only attach the aluminum plate to a massive plastic base that is fixed to the floor with plastic (very badly engineered) posts. This is defrinitely a safety issue and should be looked at.
Any one with case experience and a good comment ?

Actually, my experience with it is this - once you remove the dead pedal once or twice, you weaken the plastic pieces that lock it to the metal posts. From that point on, yes it is loose and I suppose you could kick it loose. The bad thing is that you can't buy the replacement plastic locks, you have to buy the whole dead pedal assembly.

My cars foot rest also feels pretty wobbly and i can't remember if it was like that before... if it's not normal i'm gonna have to take it in for warranty work.

Well, I think it is definitely a safety issue (after what happened to my wife). and no, she was not wearing high heels or boots; just a pair of loafers. She took her foot off the foot rest to push the clutch in and the whole cheap plastic concoction came off and landed partly behind the pedals, partly under her foot; enough to disorient her for a couple of seconds. It had never come off before.

I removed the foot rest, and polished it with steel wool.

Putting it back together again was OK. I just used a bigger sheet metal screw for the center.

the common fix is to use plumbers tape on the posts and then shove it back on. use SEARCH and you will find a thread on this topic with a few solutions.

The more you hide stuff in there, the quicker the threads will wear out.
