Default HID Color Recommendation

I know this question has been asked before but not quite like this.

I see all these RSX's running around with ridiculous rice blue HID converted headlights. They look so retarded. My question is, I want a slightly more blue look than stock for my HID's, but I dont want to go to the point of ridiculous with them. Also, I dont want to loose that much light output. I'm thinking 6000k would be the right compromise. What is the stock temperature? and what would you guys recommend?

i recommend keeping the stock unless they are burnt out and in that case i recommend the stock bulbs are replacement.

4500 K is about the brightest. I think that is the OEM bulb temperature rating.

I used to have 6500k on my Z, they were totally white with a negligible amount of blue tinge... see pics below..

I had 6000K & 7000K in my old maxima, loved both of the colors and would recommend either of the two...

6000k is about as high as you should be considering. 5000k is best. Don't forget that Xenon bulbs 'burn in' and slowly become more blue...

Definitely go for 6000K. I have 8000K, i like them but will soon be switching to 6000K because mine are just a little more blue than I would like.

The difference in light output between stock and 6000k is very small. I have no problems seeing even with my 8000k's, except when roads are wet.

How much output are you willing to compromise? 6000k ultinons have 25% less output than stock already

813motoring.net My friend runs the company, carries parts for mostly sti's and evos but he sells some really nice HID kits and bulbs for pretty cheap.

Color Temperatures: 3K(golden), 4.3K(white w/yellow), 5K(white), 6K(white w/some blue), 8K(blue w/ white), 10K(blue), 12K(blue w/ some purple), 15K(blue w/purple), 30K(purple), Pink & Purple, Red & Purple.

150$ for bulbs ballast and everything I dunno about just bulbs, you should email him about that though.

6000k best of both worlds for colour and light output. honestly though, there is no substitute for good projectors though, you'll never get that crisp beam if your projectors suck, like the Z's 2003 D2R monstrosity!
