Default Had headlights painted - Need Advise!!

I just sent my headlights out to Lightwerkz to be blacked out about a week ago and just got them back last night, only to find a whole bunch of abrasions on the inside of one of the lenses. I thought it was fingerprints at first, but it actually looks like little scuff marks, each about the size of a quarter. There are water stains inside the lense, and know what they look like, but these are not even close to being the same thing.

I am very **** about my car, and notice every little imperfection with it, and I know for a fact these were NOT there before I sent them. I wrote him back about it explaining my situation, and he's throwing his hands up and telling me sorry, it was already there! What do I do?

If I do send them back to him, (at my expense no less) is there even a way to get these abrasions out? I know the plastic inside is extremely soft, so can this even be fixed? I've already invested $260 with him up to this point.

Please advise, what would you do if this were your car?? I'm not out to badmouth Lightwerkz, I just respect your collective opinions and would like to know what you think. I'm on here all the time and actually learn quite a bit from you guys. Thanks for your help

Hi stepuckey... One thing you have to remember is that when the insides are painted black, any imperfection on the lens will now be visually amplified. The factory chrome distracts the eyes from such imperfections on the lens. I would talk to Caesar to see what your options are, he has very god customer service. Good luck.

^ see, I totally understand that and know what you mean. I frequently polish my headlights and am aware of a few "dribble spots" where water has stained the inside leaving a residue. Even before they were painted I was a aware of the stains and could see them clearly even with the chrome background. Having said that, the marring on the inside of the one lense was simply not there before mailing them out.

It was $80 total shipping, $100 for the painting, and an extra $80 for a special request to paint the projector which Caesar did me a big favor to honor.

I'd put my money on the black showing up all the little imperfections that weren't visible before. Just like with painting a car, black shows up scratches, dings, dents, whatever worse than any other color. Something thats white, silver, or chrome hides imperfections very well.

I think the little imperfections are actually small hairline cracks that develop as part of the baking and disassembly process.

I did mine twice (because I didn't seal properly the first time) and small cracks appeared after both the first and second baking. It's not a big deal, though, in my opinion.

Also, with the reflective coating the stock headlights have, it's near to impossible to tell if you have these to begin with.

I wouldn't worry about it. You paid someone to disassemble your headlights and paint them- it's not a perfect process.

^ well if it's part of the baking process then that should be something that should have been disclosed BEFORE any transaction was made. And it IS a big deal if you're paying someone $180 (before shipping).

Caesar did my headlights after the first guy that did them messed them up...and i am working with him now doing some cf stuff for him...i have been to Caesar's place and been inside where he works on the headlights...the place is spotless and very very clean...he is an honest guy and does great work...i would bet that the marks were there before and the black behind them just made them more noticable...Caesar is very big with the Subaru guys and now with the Z guys and i am yet to hear anything bad about him or his work...
