Default Factory tint peeling off...advice?

So the factory tint is peeling off on one of my windows...is this something that happens regularly? My car isn't under warranty anymore, so I'm sure that it won't be covered...

Am I just going to have to get it re tinted out of pocket?

The Factory does tint the windows, they apply a very light tint by dipping the glass into a solution. This solution does not peel, but may fade over many years. On SUV's that come with factory tint on the rear glasses they are all dipped also. Only on aftermarket applications is a film applied to the glass.

My glass was clear from the factory.
I don't believe the Z has the option of tint from the factory?

Did you buy the Z new or used??
If you bought it used, whoever had it before you tinted the windows.

The glass is NOT tinted from the factory, it's temepred. A typical factory glass (although it may look "clear") is typically a 80% tempered for minimal UV protection and clarity.

And Z's don't come "tinted" from the factory so Im not understanding what you're referring to.

My roadster has "tinted" factory windows. If you look at the front, side & back window, they are SLIGHTLY "tinted". I know what fr0ngs talking about. It sucks that yours is peeling, mine seem to be on there pretty good. Guess your only option is to get aftermarket tint.

Pictures wont do it justice. You need to see it up close. Thats how slight the "tint" is.

very simple check to do is to look at the very top of the windows. If there's a thin line of lighter color at the top it's aftermarket tint.

There IS factory tint (U-V Reducing)! Here's the proof from the OFFICIAL 350Z DEALERS SELLING GUIDE:

It comes STANDARD on ALL models on the FRONT & SIDE windows (Doesn't explain my rear window having it, maybe because I have a ZR?)

Thats an American 2004 dealer selling guide. ALL 350zs got this tint in that year and possibly more. It's a U-V Reducer so your dash & interior doesn't fade. Why take it out for later years? I bet your NISMO has it, it's just REALLY hard to see. Its weird that they call it tint but if thats what Nissan wants to call it, thats what it is.

Yup....most factories do do a slight tint. I just bought an R32 and it has a slight blue factory tint, for UV reducing.

The glass itself is tinted, but its not a film tint like you would get done after the fact. I can't imagine how this would be peeling off.
