Default Paddle Shifter OEM wheel

Well, i finally took sometime and worked on my Proto-type paddle shifter design for the oem wheel. I got the levers and mechanical box done. I still have the outside case to form with FG and wiring the units up to the oem shifter on the AT. Here are some pictures of them mounted.

Nice James! Are you working on this for production? If so how much? I love the paddle shifter idea but I don't want to get rid of my airbag so this would be perfect!

I have been thinking about producing it. So when i came up with this design i kept in mind how hard/easy it would be to build. But before i start any production i would want to get an idea of how many people would be interested in it. I had invented something else long time ago, and spent about couple grand getting it producted, then it all fell apart do to a friend. I still have some of the parts from that one.

well I'm down for a kit as long as the price is kept reasonable. I believe there is another paddle shifter kit out but it didn't get much love because it would mean people have to used aftermarket steering wheels. I'm fine with that but my girl isn't. She doesn't like that idea so that's out the window.

If you can make a nice easy bolt-on, no wire splicing (preferably using a harness to connect the wires) then I'm 100% down and I'll start the list!

zack's kit for the 03-06 g35 should work for the Z. He's pretty much done with the kit as well.

The one im working on, shouldnt have anymore of a delay then the oem. But i havent wired it yet, so im not 100% im just going on the fact im using the same switches as the oem shifter is.

My proto-type is going to be hard wired. But IF i do production it will be a bolt on and plugged in harness/adaptor.

roncfpz has a very nice kit on his car. I foget who makes it. You can shoot a PM to him though. He said it wasn't to bad to install.

The reason why i like Jame's kit is because it is 350z specific. It also looks like you were able to keep the steering cover on here which is an important factor for me. I just saw the link that Lawy sent me but g35driver isn't online yet. One concern with Zach's kit is that you can't keep the OE cover and he's having another company make it for him but it'd be for the g35, not the 350z

If you produce it, I'm in...
Do you think a VB upgrade would make any difference?

If it looks factory, has no-more delay than oem and isn't rediculously priced then I'm in for one. However if there is a negative comment to make the paddles tend to look a little flimsey compared to others I've seen

Count me in . . .

If you can fabricate this so we can keep our OEM steering wheel & controls, then I think you will have a best seller! Just make sure the actual paddles are not so big like the 1st one they put out on the market.
