Default Official install or Aftermarket

Hey, I just got an exhaust system and spoiler. Is there any point in having the Nissan shop install it, or just go to a aftermarket bodyshop? Will it void the warranty, etc? Nissan is charging about $400 for each. Im guessing that is way too much.

Thanks

yes, way way too much. The exhaust takes about 45 minutes to do so i don't know how Nissan got 400 when their hourly rate ranges from 75-90 dollars. The spoiler, depending on which, the body shop is a much better place to have it installed. Not by some mechanics.

Was thinking that, but I live in a apartment complex and have no where to do the install. Plus I have no experience and am terrified of ****ing up hah.

Should I use the nissan body shop? or go elsewhere and try to find cheaper? I am going to use a non-nissan shop to do the exhaust.

you will soon learn with the mod bug that sometimes DIY is much more fun and much more rewarding then having some shop do it

i can understand if you dont' want to do either since you live in an apt complex. You will have to have jackstands, jacks, proper tools, etc. So yes, taking your exhaust to an independant exhaust shop will cost you 140 dollars MAX. Nismo is the same exhaust i have. I did it on jack stands in 45 minutes. It was super easy

As for the spoiler, it's an easy install as well but leave it to a professional. I use to work at a bodyshop and have a lot of DIY tuners come in. They would have rust spots near where they drill their aluminium spoiler or what not. Just let a pro do it properly and you should be good. It won't be over 200 dollars. Especially the Nismo spoiler on this car.

btw, just don't take it to any crappy body shop. Look around for a place that does quality work and keep their work places clean. Those are the people who will take care of your car better.

Also, Nissan shouldn't void your warranty if it had nothing to do with your exhaust that got installed.

As the guys have already stated both items are very easy to install, i have a nismo exhaust and it took my less than an hr on jack stands to take the stock off and put the nismo on. As far as the spoiler is concerned that's also a very easy install. Rest is up to you, if you dont feel comfortable doing it then have someone do it for you...its your money and your call.

If he's never done any type of work on his car before the exhaust is not going to be "Super Easy" for him to do. You're better off taking it to a pro.

i live in an apartment complex that has rules against working on your car. not even an oil change, nothing. The OP probably has the same problem, a good reason to pay to have it done, good luck.
