Default d2R vs d2C v. ordered some bulbs off ebay

Towards the beginning of the month, I had a bulb burn out. I called the dealership and they wanted $235 for ONE bulb.

So, searching around here I found that a lot of people go through EBay and 6000K - 8000K D2R bulbs are what I need. So I order some 8000K D2R bulbs off ebay and find out a week later that the guy doesn't even have them in stock and he won't have any for another week. I ask him what he does have in stock and he says he has 10000K in stock. So I say, "fine, overnight those to me." A week later, they show up.... but with one exception: They're D2C bulbs.

I'm so f'ing irritated right now and I need to vent.

Does anyone here have D2Cs in their car? How do you like them? Ever killed an EBay seller? I have a 2003 and I know D2R bulbs are what I need but if the D2Cs are acceptable then I'd rather just end all dealings with this moron of a seller.

Thanks for your time.

d2c's are not acceptable replacements for d2r bulbs, they will physically fit, but since they are made for both d2r and d2s applications, they do not have the ceramic glare shielding on the bulb which prevents excessive glare. Installing them in the d2r projector housing will cause significant glare issues and should not be used under any circumstances in the 03-05 headlights

any particular reason you want to go 8000k? You realize you will lose a significant amount of output right?

Is it that significant? I just figure, if I'm going to replace something, might as well upgrade a little. I'm not partial to the 8k at all, just was going with the popular choice.

i would say if you want to "upgrade" a bit, go with the 6000k, they are more white than the stock 4300k and definitely bright still.

Anything higher than the stock temp is not an upgrade at all. You will lose light output the higher up you go.

Is 25+% significant to you? I certainly wouldn't sacrifice that much output for some color, especially with the already sh*tty 03-05 projectors

With my eye sight as bad as it is, it's already hard enough to see at night with the stock 4300k bulbs. So where can I buy 6000k d2r bulbs? Does no one have a reputable source?

You eyesight is bad, and you can hardly see with the stock bulbs and you STILL want 6000k? Really, go with the OEM phillips 85126+ d2r bulbs, a little bit of color is not worth it

i have 8000k on my bi-xenons, light output is just fine. side by side with a stock Z you can tell the difference. but there is definitely no way in hell i struggle to see at night. its fine.

i know member Gnarkill (or something like that) sells them at a decent price.
