I saw something in a magazine about Corbeau making a harness that functions like a stock seat belt. It will allow movement but then lock in place as a stock belt would. They said it also has an option to lock the belt in place for at the track.

I looked on their site but did not see info on the product. If any vendors or other members have info on this let me know. Checking on price and if its indeed legal on the track. Seems like a great way to be safe and comfy without the drawbacks of a harness on the street...

Not talking about stock belts. Inquiring about a new Corbeau harness that allows movement like a stock belt but then can be locked in place as well.

I'M SO GLAD YOU POSTED...sorry for the caps i thought these wouldn't work with the Z.

When you mean a sensor you mean the one on the car or the one in the system and if you can, can you explain what you have to do to get these to work. I'm guessing you have to get power to these belts because of the built in angle sensor or w/e it was.

I might send you a pm cause i want to know more.


Sorry for the thread jack but these belts you posted seem the most logical for street. I still don't know how safe it is, many factors such as a roll over and not having a cage, not wearing a 5 point cause you can slide out and what not.

I will have to post you pics of how mine is set up. The sensor comes with the unit and you need to give it 12v and a ground.

I have a kind of strut bar behind my seat, I haven't researched it to see who made it yet.(still a newbie) But my belt is mounted to the same place as that. Also I have the sensor hidden behind the driver seat panel. It works like a regular belt, in that you can pull slack out to reach something, or you jerk it and it locks. Like I said I would need to post you pics.

oh yea and tell me these wouldn't look sick in a silver z. I have always wanted Takata but green??? I mean if they are good enough for NASCAR...

search CG lock, one of the best ways to keep you in your seat and not move. tons of autox guys use it, but it seems like your just going for looks so nevermind

I am not looking to lock the stock belt, please re-read. Im not sure how a harness that would work on the street and track would be "for looks" but ok

I can't tell much about that corbeau one ^, but it looks to be the same

I haven't seen just a retractable latch assembly/ w a sensor.

The schroth unit has a retractable latch, harness, and a the wires coming out of it to the sensor.

Usually because it limits your feild of view, since these allow for movement like the stock belt I think they would have the same issues with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of Fedral law to modify your belts, just like an airbag, although that didn't stop me from loosing mine.


The retractor belt your talking about is on Corbeaus page...

I would be a little concerned about a cop seeing you strapped in with a racing harness, that it would give him a good reason to inspect your car head to toe. I suppose as long as everything else is State legal, you'd probablly be ok.

I'm thinking of maybe getting some black Forza 2's (fat *** seats) with their sliders. I've read a few reviews of these seats and they all say they sit you lower than stock, instead of higher like most reclinable seats do, which is what I like to hear.

Lower is good, higher not so much.

Schroth Racing makes a street legal 4 point harness with an anti submarine feature. I actually have a set for sale if you're interested. They are 2" harnesses in red and black.
