Default wiring 2006 tail lights?

I'm putting in my 2006 tail lights today. And i remember reading somwhere a while ago that there is some modifications when putting them in an '03. I can't seem to find the link for it. Any suggestions or a link would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

I haven't had to do this myself, but IIRC, it is PnP. The 03-05 lights have an extra harness that the '06+ do not so you only plug one harness into each and it works. You may need to confirm that yourself by popping one side off.

Just Plug and Play. Just plug the main/bigger connector and tuck away the smaller connector. There's also alot of DIY on this thread about upgrading from 03 tail lights to 06 tails. GL

NOT just plug and play. I had to shave off the ridges with a dremel on the harness that comes from the car, to be able to have it fit the harness on the taillight.

If he has the OEM 06+ LEDs he does NOT have to do anything extra.

Now if he had the JDM LEDs (like the ones you have) then YES the ridges need to be shaved.

+1 took me 15 mins to installed my 06 rears on my 03 Z. Here's the instructions:

1) Open your trunk and pop out the snap caps to the bolts.
2) Take out 3 bolts on each side.
3) Pop the lights out. (Be careful not to break the plastic tabs)
4) Pop the harnesses off.
5) Connect the large harness only on the 06+ lights on your 03-05 Z. and leave the small harness off. (Might be a good idea to tape up the small plugs with electrical tape)
6) Put everything back in reverse order.

No shaving or ridges need to be modified. 06 lights sit flush like the old ones.

Yep Karl is right. Just tuck away the second plug, and that's it!
