I finally got this all wrapped up.

Took the passenger side out because I had a crack from a fender bender. Cleaned out the water , sealed it up and was looking better without the constant fogging.

I had heard about people pulling the amber diffuser out but decided against it because I didn't have time to pull the other side out.

A month later I pulled both lights out, removed the amber strips, put everything back in and no problems. Not terribly fond of the hole where the light comes through but I thought it still looked better.

About a day later I discovered that clear and smoked diffusers are available... doh!

I order the diffusers and they arrived a week later. While I was waiting I picked up a set of the clear side markers (these ones don't light up).

Can still see the hole but overall, I'm happy with the cleaner look.

Now I'm thinking, blue bulbs to replace the amber ones. Would that be illegal?

get sylvania silverstar turn signal bulbs when there not lit they have a bluish prismatic color. when lit however they still blink orange so there 100% legal.
any automotive chain retail chain store should carry them.

 

how much for the clear strips and where?

get the evostyle bulbs they are chrome covered, the other ones have the rainbow effect

 

btw blue bulbs will be illegal, they resemple the same color cops use. Red and Blue

yeah, that's what I was thinking about when I asked the question. First reponse directed me to the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs which look blue but only when not lit. When they light up they are amber. perfect. Will check two stores on the way home.

I looked around at a couple of automotive stores and cruised the web yesterday but could not find the SilverStar signal bulbs for the Z. One store had signal bulbs but I didn't know which part number to use.

I'll call around today. If anyone knows which part number and a vendor, please post it up.

Found 'em on E-Bay. Style is 7440A. Chromed, not blue like the Silverstar.
