That's the Nismo RS concept hood. There are some templates on here somewhere if you do a search. Basically take it to a shop if you don't trust yourself and have them cut it out for you using the templates.

Templates aren't hosted anymore. We looked forever a bit ago and only found dead links. I may be starting a pretty big bodywork project later this year and would love to do that.

Thanks man. That will help me out a lot a bit down the road. Anybody have any notes for placement of the template?

Hey everyone check out this link:

https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-interior/266199-rs-vented-hood-project-complete.html

I believe he's still selling his home-made Nismo RS Hood for 650 + Shipping. This is the thread where I got the PDF file for the vents. If you read along the thread, he responds with tips and such regarding how to do this yourself. Hope this helps everyone.

I guess just make sure they are lined up symmetrically on both sides. Has anyone done this to their hood? Doesn't the rain or water get in the engine bay when it's raining? I like the look, but if I was to do it, I'd pick up a used OEM hood first, just in case I don't like it.

If you don't put a mesh behind it, then yes rain and other debris may get in. But you can also find some mesh that has really small/fine vents so that rain wouldn't go through. If it was up to me, as you mentioned, I'd definitely look for another OEM hood (purchase from another owner or search a local junkyard) and create the vents on that. This leads up to two advantages: In case you f*ck up you won't have to worry about not having a hood, and so that during rainy season, you can always swap back to the OEM hood. Swapping only takes 10 mins.
