Default G-tech accelerometer

Is there anybody using one of these? They seem like they would be a fun thing to play around with.

If anybody has one, is it possible to install it with the LCD display facing up (towards the roof) instead of using the windsheild suction cups?

Guess I could just intall it in the cubby I don't really use, if it needs to be upright.

I've got a GTechPro RR (which allows you to download the data to a computer). The SS requires that you do everything on the device.

It doesn't have to mounted in any particular orientation. The first acceleration allows the device to recognize what is "forward."

where did you guys mount it, with the windshield cups or permanent mount?

I really don't want to mount it on the windsheild but want a cleaner look and try to hide the cord the best I can.

Those G-techs are garbage, we did some testing on campus with our FSAE car with the G-tech and it was off by quite a bit.

My mount is at the top of the windshield, next to the mirror.

I take care of mine and don't throw it around (IOW, I treat it like a precision instrument). If mine is off, it's not off by much -- and others who are comparing accelerometer and GPS-calculated data are finding that theirs are fairly close.

Plus when you enter the car weight, dont go by the tag on the side of the door. Go and have your car weighed at a weight station to get an accurate weight. Is it accurate as a Dyno,, No. But will give you a good idea of a range yeah.

That's what i was thinking too. For best results need to find a truck type scale and weigh the car with half a tank of gas and with drivers weight added too.

I don't care so much about the HP and torque readings, which I'm pretty sure would be noticebly off, due to the way it calculates them. More interested in the other things 60 foot times, 0-60, 60-100 1/4mile times and cornering G's.
