Greetings,
I dropped off my car at a bodyshop/glass place to get my Mastergrade hatch installed and a 1/8' lexan rear glass mounted. The shop notified me that the hatch or lexan may crack if they just screwed or riveted the lexan directly onto the hatch. They also said that urethane does not like to bond to lexan. What other things can they do? What other parts are needed besides the hatch and the lexan itself? Is there some kind of mounting kit available?
Thanks!!!!

Where did you get the lexan ? The kit from LSauto comes with the rivets and mounting hardware. This will not crack the hatch or lexan. They also use a window sealant from any local autoparts store (not sure brand).

I got the lexan from another local raceshop. Do you know offhand what the hardware included is, Jim? I heard you need tapered rivets but I don't know what else. I contacted LSauto to see if they could help me out or even sell me just their mounting kit but no email so far. Anybody know a phone number I could use to contact LSauto directly?
UMMMM STOP!
I have CF hatch and 1/8 lexan, did all the install myself here it goes
- Place the lexan on the hatch tape it down ware it dosnt move around and looks good
- mark out ware you want the holes to be. mark the location of the lexan and remove it and drill the proper holes. preferebly spaced every 6-8 inches
-place the lexan back onto the hatch
-drill the holes with a high speed drill but slowly, use the holes drilled on the lexan as your guide.
-remove lexan one more time, and apply a beed of silicone, same one used for kitchen countertops and window corners. apply a thick beed.
-place lexan back on top and use NUTS AND BOLTS (recomended) or rivets to fasten it onto the hatch.
-remove excess silicone. make sure you do not tighten the nuts too tight b/c you will have waves on your lexan.
pic of my CF with lexan over 1 yr old. I opted and did a vinyl border for a more glass look.

stock glass 35lb
lexan 1.5 lb
stock hatch with glass 180 lb
CF seibon hatch stripped with 1/8 lexan 22.5 lb
ou save 157.5 lb thats 1 extra person, you can tell the difference im telling you

only draw back is that you cant roll down your window past 60mph b/c your hatch will start flexing and you will start cracking the CF, b/c the lexan is too flimsy and bowes. you will need alumenum braces that are easy to fab. just like the nascars and funny cars.
saving 33.5lb is only 1% of the total weight of the car... unless you race or plan on attending car shows... its not worth it.
If you change your mind and go with OEM glass, you will need a rear window modling + your old glass..
