I'm pissed.

My Z car didn't come with a dead & rotting mouse in the sound deadening/insulation material.

i saw the first pics and knew immediately what that was. first thing i would try to do is get the smell out. second find out how it got in there (they can squeeze into some very small spaces) and third, i would check your wires and that because something killed it, and mice love to chew stuff all the time. especially wires.

um, i think that mouse has been living there for a long time and just recently died. since i have never seen any material in that area at all. maybe they put it in later models but i know that my 04 did not have any material like that in there at all.

Thread should be moved to the proper weight-reduction forum.

^HAHA!

Z04, you are probably right on the housing conditions of the mouse. He had a nice stay, then probably when I left for vacation, he just died, probably could not figure out a way to get out.

I just spent an hour disinfecting everything and febreezing, the smell is basically gone, just have to let it air out for a bit or so.

Wiring is all good, everything works fine. Nothing was damaged, from what I could see.

If it still smells after a week or so, I am going to take apart the whole dash and do further cleaning.

I've seen a spider once in my vent at the top of the dash near the windshield, but this takes the cake - ha! Once, a Z came in a dealership I used to hang around at in KY with a mouse in the engine bay - had a nest built in the battery compartment - chased it out & it ran across the service bays. Another time a mouse had built a little nest area on top of the battery in an Ultima - was still there when the tech opened the hood & it took off down the side of the engine. **** happens.....

Yeah... there is no sound deadener in the center console! Little guy got cold and decided to build himself a nest.

No, there was sound deadener there. Because a month after I had the Z (May '06), I bought a Nismo shiftknob and when I took apart the shifter, it was there.
