Default FEELER: C/F Headliners

I am considering producing C/F headliners for the Z. You would be able to order an OEM style headliner or request specific cut-outs ( for specialty electronics, etc). I want to gauge interest before investing capital in machinary etc. At this point I anticipate a price of around $600- 700 for the OEM version and pricing TBD for custom orders. NO core replacement charges involved (you get to keep your present headliner). LMK what you think. Of course special coloring would be available ( red c/f, silver c/f etc). And of course price will vary according to requested specs.

I think there would definitely be a market for this at that price; I'm selling my Z, but think that would look great and would love to see that on members' cars.

Kind of pricey, especially when you consider that you can get a CF hood for less..

BAD idea, this has been discussed by many of the larger manufactures on this site. The smell of resin would take over the inside of your car, especially on a hot day. If you don't mind getting high of fumes while driving, then it's a good idea.

I've seen CF headliners for other cars, never heard that complaint before. The one I saw had great fitament, 2x2 twill, made by these guys:

I would not recommend someone else going these guys just because of problems I've read with their customer service on other forums, but that has nothing to do with the product itself.

I've seen it done too, but it was built in the car. How are you going to get a hard non-flexible carbon fiber piece the size of the headliner in the car? I would think it would have to be cut in half the mated once both pieces are inside the car.

Hello Jim,

I appreciate the feedback. Exactly what I was looking for. I will have to look into this. Maybe there are special resins and/or other bonding agents that might work better.

Since it would be the same size and shape as the original there shouldn't be a problem.

I recently had my car in the bodyshop, and they had to remove the headliner to do some of the work. I was able to get it in and out of the rear hatch pretty easily. Again great feedback and I will also look into that.

It's a good thought, and I'm all for more carbon fiber. When they removed the headliner, I'd assume the bent it to get it out. The headliner is wider then the hatch opening, no?

I don't own a Z, so I am going off my own car.
