Default LED "Z" symbol

Well...

I was looking on eBAY when I saw somebody selling the "Z" symbols but instead of the usual 3 dots there were 3 LED's.

Go check it out, here's the website...

I thought it looked pretty cool. It was selling for $75.

I was just wondering what you think of it. These would compliment the LED Reflectors in the front if you put them on the sides.

Kinda cool. Not $75 cool. Anyway, would be fairly easy to make yourself with a trip to Radio Shack & a Dremel.

I purchased a pair from a guy on this forum.

Even though I have not installed them yet they are very nice.
The badge itself is like $40.00 so the tiny LED's only add another 30 or so to the cost.

I plan on hooking them up to my blinker relay so that when I turn, these little babies will show the guy next to me that I am going by!

I dont know this for sure... but I believe they require you to drill an additional hole for the wiring.

this should not be required, as there are already 2 holes in the body, and are easily utilized for this.

however those LEDs are much smaller than anything radioshack sells, I dont even know if they sell 3mm leds, and those are smaller than even that. I use LEDs on a regular basis, and would not know where to go for those.

anyway, I have a side emblem under development. but it is not like that; It is a complete replacement not a modification. and it will definilty not require any drilling, who wants to drill their car for anything? not I.

Thumbs up

These emblems should go well with Evo-R's Z4 style LED side marker, which requires no midification to your exsiting fender! Click on the link below for the "Z4 LED" forum.

PS. We will be getting these Z4 LED side markers in September, and they will be available in amber, blue, and white LEDs!!!

i would get the Z4 LED's + the Z side symbol LED's + smoked LED reflectors. Then wire them all to the turn signals so they turn on when you hit the blinker. That would look sooooooooo cool.

Try a hobby shop that specializes in trains. They make these little lamps, very small bulbs that get used in miniature lamps and stuff. Saw them years ago but dont know where right now, to get them.

Lamps will burn out with use. The only time i've ever seen an LED burn out IME is if it is exposed to excessive voltage.

an LED in theory has an 11 year life(100,000 hours), and it is not hurt by blinking, you can use it as a strobe actually, it wont care.

maybe its just me, but whats the point?

Its so small that no one will really notice it (if used for turn signal)
I think it distracts from the rest of the car.
