Default Authentic Vs Replica Body Kits

All,

At the risk of failing miserably - I am looking at authentic Tommy K. / Nismo / Amuse Bodykits. I know there are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper Replica kits on the market especially for the Nismo.

What are the advantages of going authentic? Is it all about Fittment?

Plain and simple - if you buy a knock-off by ANYONE other than Shine
auto you are risking everything. An ill-fitting kit costs time, money and
frankly may never look or feel quite right. I have heard some Shine complaints,
but they are few and far between. If you try to get off on the cheap,
the money will be spent elsewhere - or perhaps twice.

Kind of what I was thinking - It's a shame I fell in love with the Tommy Kiara one of the most expensive - GUH!

Ontop of the price of the kit i have to pay for paint (PPW isn't cheap - learned that with the hood) This is going to be a $3K endeavor i can feel it.

Thanks

I got the Nismo V2 from Shine.

My body shop had to refinish the entire front bumper, but that's to be expected. The fitment and quality is top notch, and the flexibility of it is awesome.

Replicas are not worth the hassle IMO. I was shafted by a vendor here once. $400 down the drain. The kit couldn't even be jimmy-rigged to fit. I will never ever waste my time on replicas again. This is just my personal experience and 2 cents....

i agree because i just bought a replica INGS kit from CRG and fittament and quality is f*ckn horrible.if i could start all over i wouldn't mind spending a little more dough on a authentic body kit. Shines Auto probably has the best replicas of any other vendor out there and quality is close to an authentic kit if nt better IMO

Big +1.

If you buy a replica because it's much cheaper... chances are you'll spend more on refinishing, prepping, and painting than you would on the authentic or a high-grade replica.

+ infinity!

Wife bought Nismo V1 replica sides from a vendor here on-site. Fit was so bad, we paid another $700 to have it properly fitted and painted. The shop even gave us a break and said it should be more like $1000 to fit and paint it, but they felt bad about it.

A year later, the kit is just cracking on parts of the sides. not from scrapes r anything, the cheap-a$$ paper-thin fiberglass (FRP) is just cracking for no reason. UTTER CRAP!!!

But the real stuff and save yourself $$$$$$$ I will NEVER buy a "replica" [knock-off] again.

I personally feel that the Shine Nismo V.2 replica bumper is actually better in quality than the Original V.2 Nismo bumper which is just fiberglass. But that's IMO..

i would save the money and go with the real thing so you only have to spend the money once not a couple times in replacing or repainting the replica

I feel the same way.

I haven't seen an authentic V2 bumper in real life, but I assume it's the stiff and rigid fiberglass that I'm familiar with.

I would never put something so rigid on my car, and I love the flexibility of Shine Auto's Hybrid FRP.

I have an authentic V2 with the NISMO tag fiberglassed into the interior of the
bumper. Its a stiff mess, and does not play well with the '05-'03 fender liners.
I got a retardedly fantastic price tho, and wouldn't trade it for anything but a
few rare front ends. It does handle scrapes and bruises well, but seems to be
a magnetic for chipping (speeding does not help I assume). It fits PERFECTLY.
Once we figured out how to get it sorted out, of course. Every well-painted
Shine rep looks just as good, and personally I prefer their material too.

Knock-offs are what contribute to companies like Trust/Greddy to go under!!!

Aside from the moral aspect of buying from a company that never put any money into R&D and essentially stealing from innovators like Nismo/Tommy Kaira/Ings+1/VERTEX/Amuse, there are the fitmet issues like everyone has stated.

KNOCKOFFS FTMFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
