Unhappy Please help with NISMO wing.

I'm looking for a template or drill guide to install my wing. Anyone able to help me out? Apparently I lost the instructions before delivering my kit to the body shop. What an idiot!

Also, I was wondering if anyone has tried using a rubber bead or gasket around the base to hide any gaps and maybe prevent cracking later on down the road.

Thom: As far as I know, the body shop guys didn't use any type of gasket to put mine on. I'm pretty sure that they only used what came with the kit. Sorry, but I can't help you with the template.

You got the REAL NISMO wing correct?

whoever did make the kit should be able to provide you with a new template...

even if someone had it, what can they do? scan it? and you print it? I think its a bit too big for any of that.

That's an affirmative.

If its a good body shop, they'll be able to make it work. There were some fitment issues with some of the "NISMO Style" wings out there before.

Seriously, the replica wings did a lot better than the replica front bumpers, side skirts and rear skirts. There were A LOT of problems getting those to fit. Not as many problems with the wing though.

Foam doublestick tape is all that is needed to address the "gap" issues.

As for the template, I toseed mine after my install or I'd send it to you. However, your bodyshop should be able to do without it if there worth a ****. It's not difficult to make a template just by measuring, or even tracing, the bottom of the spoiler and centering it on the car. Even with the template, you still have to measure to center it correctly on the lid.

depends on who you ordered it from.

there seems to be no issues with the gruppe-s replica, but the bavaria aka kcaero replicas SUCK!

Affirmative. Tower & Approach at HNL.

I'm pretty sure thats what it was when I looked at it today. Just for fun, I put DrBonz's spoiler up on the Z to see what it would look like with NISMO kit. It looked alright, but was way too shiny & slick. I'm sticking with my NISMO wing.

I have a feeling I'd make it about 5 hours outside of PHX and then I'd be treading water for quite some time!

I've heard stories from Ferry Pilots that have flown twin cessna recips from CA to HI. Stuff it with a huge fuel cell in the cabin, take off over gross and then for the first half of the trip the winds aloft are such that your calculations show you won't make it.... then about halfway the winds change and help you along....

I'm not so sure I could have such good faith in those winds!

BTW... my avatar pic was taken over the Mohave desert when on a trip from Phx to So Cal. we had a prop governer go nuts.... ran the RPMS up to 105% before we shut it down... flew the rest of the trip on the remaining engine. Those Garret TPE331-10's are some awesome motors! Plenty of power!
