I have mine wired so they stay on all the time (orange LED's) - just my choice, and I can't say how they worked in other markets. Either of the first 2 options are easy to do with bulbs, but not so much with LED's. Daniel Stern's Lighting site has instructions on hot to wire them to blink opposite of the signals.

 

In true geek form, I YouTubed Best Motoring's episode on the Z33 and can now conclude that the sidemarkers blink together with the turn signals.
