Question Bodykits? Yes/No

Just wanted to know what you guys think about body kits on your Z/G? I really like the curves of the Z the way it is but some front bumpers look good. Do you like them or do you stick to the original design?

Bodykits are great until you get bored of them...

they are quite expensive to do *right*, then they are expensive to replace if you do get bored of them.

Then they are very difficult to ship in case you want to sell them as well, and easily damaged in transit which could make it an even bigger pain in the *** to deal with them.

Don't get me wrong, I like a good body kit. But I never thought the "real" cost of doing it was worth the price.

Don't get me wrong the original body curves on a stock Z looks good. That's what attracted me to buy the car back in 2003. But 5 years later you see 20 other Z's that look the same as yours everyday, don't you want to do something to make your car a little different compared to the other 20 Z's?

KL and others have got it straight. The Z is awesome. We all know and love it.
Unfortunatley (as ^) in stock form you only get a piece of the pie. Certain
kits and fewer combos accentuate the Z tremendously. Kind of like angel food
cake. Not bad by itself, but add strawberries and whipped cream... ok soso
metaphor.

i say if you do anything, you should get full replacement pieces (ie full front/rear bumpers) instead of these pieces that are added on like lip kits. i think they look really tacky unless you have them molded.

I like, but not sure I would.

Dont have the money

like posted above, it has to be done "right" and like anything if you want it done right then it's going to be expensive. Other things to consider color match, quality of kit, filliment, ect.

I always thought that the right wheels, make the Z looks great. I wouldn't bother with a body kit unless you're planning on dropping some serious moola for labor and parts (maybe more if you overnight shipping from Japan )

And no $250 is not enough.

If you have the money go for it. Don't get me wrong, stock is just fine but to me there is nothing better then a Z with a full kit. If done properly it really gives off an exotic vibe. Still till this day people ask me what kind of car I'm driving.

The stock body lines are nice but before getting a body kit one should spend time to get a nice rim & tire combo followed by suspension work. A body kit is expensive to do right (parts, paint, prep, install) If done with some thought it looks great (just look at some of the members rides on this board).

As far as nice looking Z's:

wheel fitment and stance > any body-kit

If you really don't have the first, don't bother with the second.
