Default rear defogger

the "top" 5 elements don't work. by top i mean the ones closest to the roof. is that normal? if so, no big deal. it just seemed weird to have elements that don't do anything.

im under the impression that rear defogger systems, if one of the lines gets cut or damaged, the whole thing wont work, so it seems weird that some, but not all of it works (or doesnt work). but im speculating

I've had this happen on my previous cars, you should be able to fix the broken lines. You can find the breaks in the lines visuallly, then pick up a repair kit, should include a conductive paint to fix the break.

Then its broken.

Heat is produced by running a electrical current across a resistance. The resistance is the orange lines. As tranceformer95 mentioned, inspect the lines and buy a repair kit.
