What do you do about your tint?
I read through some of the Tint thread but it turned into a fight. I've had my ride tinted since 04 when I got my accord. I got probably 5 tickets in that car. I work in a hospital now and I've been pulled maybe 3 or 4 times now in the Z. I mention where I work because I've been let go with a warning after the cop saw my ID and asked about my job. I got one ticket when a cop got me and walked to the passenger side and didnt see it. I dont throw it out to him I just lay it on my lap. So anyway I got pulled over other morning by a state trooper in my town and I did the usual lay the id on my lap but he didnt really look in so I'm pretty sure he missed it. I've been throwing around the idea of taking it off the front because I'm kind of sick of rolling down the windows all the time going through a certain town and being paranoid, and paying 60 bucks a pop. What do you guys do about your tint? I know what town requires a court appearance and your suppose to show up with it off but I lied everytime and made an excuse. Other places I just paid the ticket.
When I got tint put on the Z they messed up and didnt put it on the front windows and I absolutely hated how it looked, half ***. The car looks so good with tint... I really dont want to take it off. So, just seeing how you guys who are tinted handle it.

I have a friend who is a VERY close with one of the cops in cali. I just send the fix it ticket to him and he just checks it off for me. if you have any friend that can do that for u, you wouldn't have to pay 60 a pop
Don't think we have fix it tickets in jersey. Get a ticket and goto court or the court house and pay it heh. It's just a pain because we cant have anything on the windows on the sides of the driver. But anything on the back windows.
I have an interesting situation. I currently live in Huntington, WV. The legal limit here is 35% all around. I have 20% tint on my car. However the car is registered in Florida with FL plates. The legal limit there is 28% for the front and 19% for the rears. So, my car is illegal in both places. But, here's how it works. In WV, you need to have your car inspected. People here with illegal tint have buddies in the inspection shops, etc. so they get a pass. I don't have to get my car inspected here because, again, it's a florida car. Florida no longer has yearly inspections so I don't have to comply with any yearly regulations there. Honestly, I haven't been pulled over here as I'm told the police are not vigilant about window tint. If I were to be pulled over, I roll down both windows anyway as a courtesy to the police and I think they take notice and appreciate that. Further, if they were to comment on the tint, I point out that it is an out-of-state car just up here for the week or something. Technically if they were to give me a ticket, it would have to be for breaking Florida law in West Virginia which I don't think would hold up in court.
As a side note, I have a friend who got pulled over in Virginia in a florida car and did get a ticket for his tint, but the cop was particularly an a-hole and gave him a bunch of crap too. He ended up paying the ticket because he didn't want to fly back to VA for court, but I can't imagine that an officer can enforce the laws of other states.

I never can understand what is so hard about following the tint laws. It's a law. There is no debate. You break it, you pay. Just get legal tint and deal with the fact that ******** in your state who shoot cops mean that your car can't look the way you want.

Do you get ticketed for tint on the Windshield, or because it is illegal %? I know for a fact that mine is illegal tint (I just picked it up on saturday used from the Nissan dealership). But I have an eyebrow on my windshield, and damn near limo on the rest. I know I haven't owned my car for very long, but I drive through several towns a day that have very **** retentive cops.
If you're concerned with it looking 'half-assed' by not having windshield tint, I'd look into getting the eyebrow - it's a 6-8 inch strip that runs the length of my windshield at the top. It makes it feel very low profile, and it's still obeying the law.. for the most part.. just keep your windows rolled down. Oh, and I can still see at night

For you on the other hand, you can put some kind of tint on every window except your windshield which is dumb anyway. I'm not even supposed to put a windshield strip.... Its moronic how vastly they differ from state to state.
And again this was for people to chime in with tints... I should have specified, illegal tint. Anyway I wasnt the least bit mad when I got the ticket, he was doing his job... enforcing a law caused by some jerkoff who shot someone through a window, as far as I know.
In all reality you can shoot a cop through any window, tinted or not. But if I were to make it legal, the rule would be if your pulled, both windows down immediately or guns get drawn. No approaching vehicle until windows are down.

.I dont touch the front windshield. No reason to tough that. I thought about a strip to help with glare when the sun is in front but it looks like something to draw more attention. People with nice cars and tints dont have to be kids, lots of time people with more, but window strip seems for the younger crowd.
I had originally misread your first post when you said front windows - I'm 90% sure that I have illegal tint. Tonight I was pulled over on a side street waiting for a friend to catch up. A cop pulled up and stopped. So, I turned on my cell phone and held it up to my ear pretty quick as if I pulled over to make a call - and then he drove away. Maybe you could try that
Most cops out here in Colorado only fine for tint as a secondary offense - unless they're out for blood. I'd say there really only two ways about your tint problem - either keep rolling your windows down through sensitive areas of town, or get your tint removed completely (since you don't like partial windows - which is completely understandable).
