Magic no. Trade secret. Regardless, prove to me the worth of your statements about the lights not able to shine the road.

Lets think logically from here on into the rest of the gibberish. The 1/4 inch width and 2 inch length rectangular opening that allows the HID to shine through pretty much directs the HID light toward the MAG glass correct? Now, keep up with me on this, the interior housing of the HID is filled with a chrome reflective surface that directs the shine through that opening right into the mag glass. In no way shape or form is there any reflective surface making the shine face back toward the chrome to reflect back out toward the road. The Reflective surface is mainly for the high beam. NOT the HID. So in other words "normal" driving will not be affected. But if your looking to HI beam the road now that would be a diff story. Guess you won't be seeing the hidden cop cars or deer way ahead.

On the "red" or the "blue" the damn guy cannot make up his F'n mind. Kinda drives me crazy.

I agree about the blue and red...already asked to go back to red for sake of theme...

I wanted black or white headlights...went with black...didn't know about the reflector issue until Ray told me a couple weeks ago, and at that time I informed Venture.

Blue would be nice, but a lotta work to do everything red over to blue.

Just from reading your posts, it doesn't seem like you fully understand how a projector works, or in this case, a "hybrid" projector.

Painting the reflector, such as you did in this case, will limit the light output on the road. No doubt about it. This is a hybrid projector, in that, it uses a reflector and a projector lens to output light. The main reason that the lens is there, is to sharpen the cutoff line, and reduce glare.

That's the reason why the 03-05 Z uses D2R bulbs. The "R" stands for reflector.

yeah dude it's not like they're just theorizing this. If you did any research before you painted them you would see that many people have painted the reflectors before and every time the headlights are all but useless on the road afterwords. It's a fine mod if its just for show and all but don't plan on driving around at night like that.
It's not like everyone upgrades to the 06 lights just because they want to spend 1000 bucks on headlights. It's because you can't black out 03-05's and still drive on the road.

i understand what is being said thanks. But i have my own ways in dealing with the problems that occur in which they shine perfect when im done. So I get what the problem is and was and i've fixed it. So painting the reflective surface black make no difference in the situation at hand. So rest assured is what im saying.

Sorry to burst your bubble there, but there is nothing you will be able to use to remove your layers of spray paint and primer that won't also remove the OEM reflective surface. So I guess your "trade secret" will be to just replace the reflector, because I've got enough time in the paint "trade" to know that you aren't getting those reflectors clean without destroying them.

Had you caught this mistake within the first 24 hours, prior to the paint curing, it would be a different story, but now the paint is cured, you'll need to use something much more harsh. This only leaves you with a limited amount of choices, all of which will eat the OEM reflective paint.

Let's see it, please explain what you've done. You're doing all this for the benefit of DIYers and not profit, why so cloak and dagger, with your terms like "trade secret" and "I've got ways" and "~It's fixed without addressing the problem~".

I did not make a DIY thread. This thread is Duke's not mine. And although im only showing my craftsmanship here off the forum is another story.
What im capable of doing needs no proving for your benefit. If someone needs help a simple PM will do like some have been doing already.
You will just have to wait and see the finished product.

Bravo...you my sneaky friend do not seem to see where i come from.

Yes i know of the previous Picasso's who had trouble with seeing the road with there lights.

Yes i have read all the problems associated with painting the reflecting surface.

Although my housing is black, it still reflects the way i need it to to shine the road.

It all starts with an idea put into a theory then developed in a hypothesis and put to the test, in which it WORKS!!!

Critic me all you like. I still sleep well at night. Computer screens and keyboards people...just hold your tongue or grimy little fingers until the Final product.

I thank you.

Hey, I guess we will just have to see how it goes...

We tested the painted light output vs the stock light output today in one of the garage bays with lights off...it was dark enough (I think) to get a good idea of the light output of each.

The light output looked exactly the same to me of each light. I guess that we will see when we install the lights and try em out at night.
