Default respray or just clearcoat respray??

well im waiting for my vertex kit to come in and am wondering what to do about the paint. There is a scratch on the door, and a chip by the gas cap, and some scratches on the roof. all from the precious owner. there through the clearcoat and the chip by the gas cap is through the paint it looks like. so im wondeirng if when i get the kit put on should i get the whole car sanded down and repainted or just the clearcoat taken off and get that redone. so what do yall hting i shoudl do. i want the paint to match as best as it will.

and how much will it cost for the one yall recomend. (ballpark) thanks guys!!!

they're gonna have to repaint a lot of the car anyway when they put the kit on. i.e. they need to paint the hood too in order to color-match properly. repainting the whole car will be a lot more expensive, but worth it. For two little scratches like you have, i'm sure they won't need to do much. just point them out and tell em to fix it. sanding the whole car ballpark 6-10g's depending on the quality.
hope it helps!

^^ i dont think it will reach any where from 6-10g. maybe 1-3 grand.

since you are just painting the same color or maybe reclear then it will cost less because they dont have to take everything aparts (like doors, hood trunk and jams).

well at least down here it wouldnt cost over 3 grand for a quality paint job and thats to paint another color.
just my 2cents.

hey by the way where you got the vertex? i ask because i just got a replica from VIS racing and it fitted like a b*tch. nothing fit right.

i got the vertex from andy@performance nissan. worked out really well. should be in around febuary. i got quoted around 2000 from nissan. going to a few other body shops today.

heres the total lnumber of scratches on the car.
scratch on the door.
deep scratch on the rear fender by the gas tank
very thin scratches on the roof
and very thin scratches on hood.
and a little spot on the hatch

sounds like a lot but there all very small. i want it perfect so.

well i bought my car in 4 body shops today to get the body kit painted and some other stuff and i was quoted some wierd prices, 745, 1400, 1600, 3300. well the place that quoted me 1600 seems very reputable. and thats with blending in the paint for a ppw z.

so im guessing it all depends on where you go.

Should be around $2k for full re-spray with quality materials.

this is approximately what I would expect to pay for a full respray. Unless you are getting a crazy deal from a friend or the shop is in dire need of work, I can't see a full respray being under 6 grand. Materials, prep, booth time, etc.... all very expensive. If done properly the shop could have up to 2000 just in material.
