I have a white light under each footwell. I spliced into the back of the 12 volt outlet on the passenger side. The light stays on when key is on acc. or on completely, or you can put a switch in between to turn them off if you'd like. If you want lights for cheap I'd also reccomend finding a website that sells CCFL lights (cold cathode), very cheap computer lighting that works great as accent lighting inside, just dont go crazy..google it.

Depends how you want to hook it up. You could simply tap the front 12v accessory (cig lighter) for power and put a simple switch between the led's and the 12v. Only crap part is that you can only use this when the car is turned on.
Or...if you have an aftermarket deck, you can tap the constant 12v source in teh back of your deck that keeps the memory going. You could even do it with the stock deck
