Default Opinions on carbon fiber hood?

What are your opinions on people getting a carbon fiber hood that does not match the rest of the car color? I don't know much about carbon fiber hoods, and don't know if you can paint them to match. I always see the black ones.

you can paint over them, carbon fiber more or less always looks the same. the problem with that is .. the reason to get a CF hood is for weight reduction (and most who buy it also like the looks of CF), adding paint etc eliminates some of the weight savings.

the only real reason to get a CF hood and paint it to match your car is if you like a particular style of hood not available in other variations of material.

I've seen a lot of CF hoods painted over, sometimes they leave vents and other detail in the CF and it looks pretty decent.

That's what I figured. I think they look completely, ridiculously stupid when they are just the normal color on a different color car, by the way.

different strokes for different folks. I personally dislike CF, a lot. especially the interior cover-over carbon fiber stuff. I hope that fad dies in a fire.

Yeah it's definitely a personal taste thing. I love them when on decently modified cars, but not so much on stock.

if your going for weight saving..dont bother. the stock aluminum hood weighs just as much as wet cf hood (which is usually laid over fierglass ayways). unless you shell out a lot of cash for a dry carbon hood...its purely visual
